Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran, brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks and his rookie partner take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

I liked that they changed the structure, obviously it's an imitator and it gives it its touch

I thoroughly enjoyed it. But then again, I like my gore. Is it the best, no. But it is a fun ride.

Ouch.

Saw is back, with a vengeance.

Spiral fits the bill nicely... it doesn't waste time, it is extremely gory and makes you smile for all the wrong reasons.

Very satisfying... 7/10.

The ending is really very :asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:unsatisfying:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:, even for a SAW movie.

This is a kind of mixture of a cop movie and a Saw movie. Mostly it is meant to be seen as a Saw movie, but given that they combine cap and Saw movie, the mixture is unfortunately neither a really good cop nor a really good Saw movie. Ok, but not more. For fans.

After another break and not a continuation of Jigsaw, we are given an entry that makes it seem like a whole other spin-off trilogy or series of films is coming. We get Chris Rock being serious, and a film that feels much more like Se7ev than any fan of the series would really like it to be. The blood is pretty minimal. The plot is fine. It’s a good film that I think may stand on its own better than almost every other film in the series. Not that this makes it a particularly good film, but there is merit in not needing to watch 7 other films before this.

Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching

I actually liked this movie. It fit within the Saw franchise, with an interesting twist. That at the time of release would be timely. The traps for some reason was so much more visceral compared to the other saws.

They should rename the franchise Seen, because we've seen it all before.

Not the best of the Saw films, but better than most of them.
