Immensely entertaining, intriguingly philosophical and just about one of the best films ever made!
Had a rewatch of this last night, it has never lost its impact. So stylish, its influenced so many films over the last 17 years and will go on to do so, its definitely a film that made the 21st Century. The cast is perfect, when you read some of the names that turned down the roles originally, I am so glad they did, I cant imagine anyone else on these roles now. The influences from Baudrillard to the Bible all littered throughout, so many layers to this perfect story, and again the look of the film is fantastic. An absolute 10! Watch it!!

Genius work by Mark Passio!
Best movie franchise ever!
BEST MOVIE, this will forever be an amazing movie, the second film is also good but the 3rd and especially the forth are quite controversial and definitely not the best in the series. But I highly recommend you watch this movie if you have not as this is one of the best sci-fi action movies out there.
Take the blue pill and wake up in your bed in a world in which the sequels were good...or take the red pill and see how deep the rabbit hole goes...a world without rules...without sequels
Alright, straight up, this is just a really fucking good movie. My first reaction, even on a rewatch, is still just, damn. The aesthetic alone puts it on another level, that gritty, late-90s, leather-clad cyberpunk style? Timeless. But what makes The Matrix more than just a badass action flick is how it blends that with serious philosophical depth. Simulation theory, free will vs determinism, existential identity, all those ideas are embedded deep in the structure, but never feel like a lecture. You can enjoy it casually or go full spiral mode decoding it all.
The characters? Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, icons. But it’s Agent Smith who steals it for me. Such a memorable villain: eerie, methodical, quietly intense. The whole agent dynamic adds this cold, oppressive force that really sells the dystopia. The world-building is sharp, the pacing keeps you locked in, and the lore is just the right amount of vague and compelling.
Visually? Holds up shockingly well. The action choreography is clean and stylish without ever feeling too flashy. Every shot looks intentional. And the soundtrack? Absolutely nails the mood, industrial, edgy, and unforgettable. It makes the scenes hit harder without ever overwhelming them.
What stands out most is just how much love and effort was poured into this. From the behind-the-scenes work to the writing and set design, it bleeds passion. And yeah, even after watching it like 3–4 times now, it hasn’t aged. You catch new stuff each time, new details, new interpretations. It’s one of those rare films that’s endlessly rewatchable and feels both smart and effortlessly cool.
Highly recommend it to literally anyone. Whether you’re here for the aesthetic, the story, the action, or to just sit back and let your brain get gently blown, The Matrix delivers.
I can’t believe it’s 25th anniversary! And man this movie still holds up, just came back from the theater and those graphics are still just as amazing as I remembered.
3 Thoughts After Re-Watching ‘The Matrix’:
1. It would be unfair to rate this film anything lower than a 10. It was revolutionary. It was insanely original. And it was next-level stylish. Purely iconic.
2. One of my favorite scenes, that was surprisingly action-free, was with The Oracle. The actress was superbly subtle and her character’s interaction with Neo was fantastic.
3. I was super impressed by the way such a complex story was introduced. The first half of the movie was basically a lesson, as we learn along with Neo. And it was ingeniously and intriguingly explained.
