**Part of my 2022 Martial Arts Mondays**

The Flag of Iron could have been something very special if it hadn't been for some very stilted and unnecessary dialogue that bloated the runtime up to almost 2 hours. It could have been trimmed down to about an hour and a half if they just stopped talking about what they are going to do, and just did it. Or maybe just stopped talking about what they had just done, and moved on. This makes The Flag of Iron a bit boring in between the rather excellent fights. The fighting, however, is choreographed to perfection, and the execution is well over par. This should have been enough to keep me interested throughout, but the talking was just a bit too much.

Despite the long and boring dialogue sequences, The Flag of Iron is watchable because of the exceptional fights. Especially if you can get the 88 Films Blu-ray release.
