A portrait of the lives of a disparate group of patrons and employees at an American watering hole today.

Reminds me of most of my twenties when I was a barfly. It's usually fun at your local when you know everyone. Lots of good and some bad wasted time. A few years ago I was thinking back and I'm pretty sure I was depressed thus not doing anything else with my life.
This smacks of reality if you have been there.
Speaking as someone who has lived this type of life, the makers of this film did an excellent job.
I think what is funny is that there is one (or many) of these bars in every town. I instantly recognized every one of the characters in the bar - the affable bartender, the 60-something drunks that like to yammer on about philosophy and how the newer generations are failing.... the list goes on and on. There is a poignant moment towards the end where the elder drunk tries to be the ghost of Christmas future for one of the younger drunks - you could tell it was going in one ear and out the other. I don't know if it was sad that the bar was going or sad to see so many people without hope.
