2038: George Almore is working on a true human-equivalent AI, and his latest prototype is almost ready. This sensitive phase is also the riskiest as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs—being reunited with his dead wife.

Wow. That was amazing.
What a great twist of an ending.
It's good movie about how AI built another robots and that ending twist is something
I probably need to watch it a few more times to understand what's going on for real....
Do yourself a favour and just watch this. Avoid all comment sections, and come back later.
Dripping with a cyberpunky, Sci-fi, synthy aesthetic, Archive is a great mystery thriller with style and substance. Definitely one on my rewatch list for any hidden meaning or detail I missed on my first go.
"George can't come to the phone right now."
I will always love a movie that leaves me with my mouth gaping, jaw dropped, staring in shock at the screen.
Man this was so good. Some really heady themes here. Don't want to say too much—this is definitely one of those movies where it's best to go in blind.
Really like the look of this movie. Production design is outstanding. The robots are brilliantly realized. The long shots of nature which don't necessarily advance the story put me in mind of Tarkovsky (though bear in mind, I've only seen the beginning of Solaris).
Theo James and Stacy Martin are both wonderful. The cuts to the living, breathing Jules are so jarring, as they should be, driving home the artificiality of a relationship with a man-made replacement for something real—something unknowable, untouchable, ineffable, human.
In many ways, this isn't science fiction—this is happening right now.
Excellent Sci Fi movie. A little slow in some way, but what a twist at the end. Didn't see that coming. Felt sorry for J2 as well. Overall a good idea and a great movie to watch. Remember, slow paced but the ending is worth the wait. :clap_tone1::thumbsup_tone1:
What an amazing movie! Seriously. I know that it's not perfect but the avg score it's not compatible.
At first I thought the movie was somehow trying to talk about those kind of person that hasn't
gone over a lost love trying to make his new relationships turn into the old one...
Specially with the "acceptance" scene in the end... Man, I was like... "Yeah some people really go for it, like
j3
is doing". And was even like "the process of
overriding ones personality
is painfull, I've seen that happen"... And I've even seen a case where a person tried to do that intentionally, like looking for old memories and stories about them to replicate that for her "lover".
But then the end comes... Even though I had actually mentioned to my gf a few minutes before that that it could be the case due to some strange scequences, like some specific grey calls and events order, I wasn't actually waiting for it, but when
the third door opens, it is clear that the twist is there.
I've seen people talking about how it takes the stakes from the movie, but honestly I think it's quite the opposite.
The whole point of the project is to give
closure to the ones that goes
, it is said in some point when George is explaining the process to Jules. At first we see him trying to "override" the memory of how
the accident
actually happens, making it appear that they were well and in a good mood, which is shown not to be the case later, as with a few other scenes... Then at the end you see
j3
reasoning with him that it wouldn't have made a difference, and then he tells her that he wanted to fix it anyway. It was his way of coping with his
guilt, and probably what he was thinking at his last moments
.
And honestly, I don't think I was in such a bad track... The whole movie we see that he doesn't actually care for them... It's just a superficial act. I doubt you'd not confort and try to protect a 5 y old child from being called "ugly thing", or simply taking good things from the ones that disappoint you in the minimal way and giving to the shining new and better "toys". Not to mention when is shown that the the prototypes are clearly affected by his behavior towards them, like the
arm thing for j1
. Of course it can all be explained by the prototypes' objective at the end, but it does leave a bad taste anyway because you know they are sentient.
It's really hard to see such emotional range in robots like you see here. Amazing work from the vfx and animation team.
I loved the movie. It's is good to see Theo making a good movie for once.
The first 80 minutes, I was like 'huh yea this guy is kinda stupid with his AI' but then, everything just made sense.
Archive? 🤔
As Indie #SciFi goes it's right up there with Moon.
It's a bit slow and sometimes predictable, but you have to hang in there for the twist at the end...
Wow. That was amazing.
What a great twist of an ending.
