Ne Zha

a boy who is born with emo eyeliner grows for like three years to become a little emo boy (while speaking like a teenager or young adult). he meets a sheltered boy who has a hot (helicopter) father with an even sexier voice. the emo boy is taught that he is not an emo, but the ultimate emo killer. he resolves to prove to the world that he is the ultimate emo killer.

the sheltered (closeted) boy and the emo boy meet. they eventually fight. emo boy discovers ultimate emo form, and there is dragon racism. closeted boy becomes closeted dragon. they fight. emo boy wins through the power of emo but spares the sheltered boy due to the power of friendship.

the power of friendship prevails and they stop the curse of living for three years as an emo boy. their souls of being closeted and emo respectively survive. the end.

Quite a great comedy cartoon. Somehow the matured Natra appearance really looks like Songoku

Feels a bit chaotic, the water guy isn't even fully developed and the parents have no personality.

Always interesting to watch an animated movie from another country and see the differences.

I disliked the character design from the trailer, but the huge success of the second film piqued my interest enough to give the first movie a go.

Cheesy script, slapstick humour abound, ended up being more enjoyable than expected.

I love the concept and the animation is pretty good, put at the same time everything is so overly dramatic and unfocused, the main character is unlikeable (not because he's a demon, but because he's a brat) and the humour feels terribly aged.

I would rate it huh/10 if I could, I feel like that'd be most accurately describing how I feel about this movie.

what beautiful animation! no wonder it's a product of the highest animation quality standard in china, i like the most is that scene by the beach where ne zha and ao bing plays shuttercock together
