Honestly, from a music standpoint, this movie gets an extra point from me. I've always head about how great 8 Mile was but to finally be able to watch it.... just wow

I'm not a fan of the plot of the movie, but you better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime

Rating: 3.75* / 5* or 7.5/10

Honestly, I think the film ranges from a 7 to an 8. I personally give it a 7.5, but I do think that for someone who isn't interested it should be at least a 7, and for someone who has a little more context about the film, it should be an 8. Anything less than 7 seems like a failure to appreciate the things that are well done (in my opinion), like the musical setting and Eminem's performance. But anything more than 8 seems like the film is being overrated.

I think the plot is simple and straightforward, which isn't a bad thing since not all movies have to leave you thinking about the meaning of life. The film is really as simple as: you're introduced to a protagonist, and the film is about watching this chapter of his life unfold, during which he thinks about how to put things in order to achieve what he wants. You could say it's a story of self-improvement (?).

"You wanna know my motto?: Fuck Lotto! I'll get the seven digits from your mother for a dollar tomorrow."

With Eminem's latest album just being released and him still being one of my favorite artists out there I thought it was a good time to revisit this classic.

Lose Yourself is still one of the best songs ever, I totally forgot how decent Eminem is into this. Seeing Michael Shannon was a surprise. Brittany Murphy is still beautiful. Proof..... Anthony Mackie choking. 313. Fuck the Free World. The final 15 minutes. The soundtrack and I still really, really enjoy the small victory at the end. Not him getting a contract but Rabbit just having a victory for himself and going back to work.

8 Mile isn't a cinematic masterpiece but nostalgia for me runs strong in this one. I really watched this a lot as a 14/15 year old. As soon as the soundtrack album came out I bought it. As soon as it was on DVD I bought it. Watched it like once every two weeks. I thought I was the bomb for having this film and enjoying it. God damn I'm lucky my name isn't Stan.

Lovely revisit and happy I really enjoy his latest album. Now please go on another tour and come to Holland Mr. Mathers!

Haven’t watched this one in ages and it was a blast to revisit! Eminem isn’t the greatest actor in the world, but he sells this role for obvious reasons. One of the oldest (and best) biopics that I can recall before they were the hot craze.
