I don't like comedies or romances - this film proves the opposite.

A refreshing road trip that makes you smile, with a perfect cast and great acting.

Maybe a bit long-winded here and there, but loving, warm-hearted, and never over the top.

I avoid hyped films and only discovered this one in 2025 through a preview.

8/10

"BUCKLE UP! I DRIVE FUCKIN' NUTS!"

Offbeat & charming.

The beginning 15 minutes or so can be a bit rough and throw you off, but after that it gets surprisingly charming quickly. They don't play ultra-dramatic big reveal with the "plot twist" about him, it's just two misfits coming together.

>You need to take it down a notch .

Hot off my viewing of Snack Shack, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Adam Rehmeier also directed Dinner in America, a movie I'd attempted to watch a few years back but ultimately bailed on because it wasn't hitting me right. I'm very glad (after being blown away by his latest offerings) that I decided to go back. Push through the awkward opening 15 minutes, and you'll be rewarded with a cute, touching, but somehow rebelliously punk rock rom-com that is so off-pitch with it's peers that it feels wholly unique. A whirlwind from start to finish, grungy but also beautiful? It really is in a class and style of it's own, making it so refreshing and impressive. Yeah, Rehmeier is joining the shortlist of directors I'll unconditionally watch going forward. Now to decided if I want to risk this new found adoration by watching The Bunny Game. We shall see.

Witty, sharp comedy that is worth tucking into.

This is a snotty punk romcom, that feels like a hard-R _Napoleon Dynamite_ (2004), if it were made by Diablo Cody.
The characters are weird and ride the edge of being annoying, until you're totally charmed by them and completely sucked into the crazy world.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, so I was surprised to find that it was actually a very sweet love story - albeit one for misfits.
Lots of heart, pretty damn funny, and has one hell of a great song with "Watermelon."
If you've ever felt like there are far too many romcoms for normies, and you need one for the freaks and outcasts, give this a watch. Very well made, I highly recommend it.

The subversion of expectations is the strong point of this film. You never know where it will go but where it does go is forever interesting.

This is not a movie, it's a love letter to weird girls, love it! But honestly I don't get the hype. I will never trust TikTok's recommendation again lmao
