It was enjoyable to revisit this world as well as these characters, and the ability to make choices determining the path of the story adds an extra layer of fun. I completed it twice in one sitting to explore as many options as possible; it was uproarious the first time but less so the second time revisiting many of the same jokes, and there were far more dead ends than I expected, many of which were very amusing. Jacqueline could have been used better to participate in the main storyline, but otherwise this serves as a unique sendoff for the show.

Binged all of UKS after always thinking I’d get around to the show eventually when I heard the news this was being removed soon. You can take most of my thoughts on the show as the same for this special: funny bits that come before characters, some themes and thoughts that aren’t as clever as they think or are even downright bitter and offensive. Typical Tina Fey, really. This is a nice epilogue to the series, giving the easy catharsis of a romantic resolution for Kimmy and a big final showdown with the Reverend. Burgess is a star, Hamm is both detestable and laughably pathetic with surface level charm not even hiding the manchild underneath, Kemper is the winsome axis it all revolves around, and Krakowski’s character doesn’t mention the terribly thought out and tripled down on but thankfully dropped in the fourth season Native American plotline, so you can just enjoy her comedic timing and delivery. And Radcliffe and the rest of the supporting cast are more than capable bringing up the rear.

There’s some big swings that are almost admirable in how they jar tonally. The overall choices mechanic is mostly deciding which jokes you get, roughly ending up at the same place with a clear canonical ending. A fun time, but I wonder if Fey and the rest of the crew regret committing to a format for their series finale that would be unfairly temporary and erased.
