The Hunger Games

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. The world will be watching.

The fact that our short king Peeta found the time and supplies to cosplay as a rock while almost dying will never stop being funny to me

This movie will forever give me the chills.
Katniss is definitely one of my favourite protagonists of all time; she’s strong, capable, compassionate, smart, confident, sweet, brave and beautiful.
I don’t blame our short king Peeta for being completely obsessed with her because honestly… ME TOO!

“MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR”

Watched this film so many times one of my favourite films and film franchises love the concept to the films.

The first hunger games does well telling you about why they offer up 2 from each district punishing the districts for rising up against the Capital, in the start of the film you can tell especially in the districts they don’t have much and hardly have any food and basically are treated as slaves.

The reaping is where they gather all the potential tributes between the age old 12-18 and pick a female and male tributes the way they did this was very well done with the silence and look all of the kids faces and shock when Katniss sister primrose was called out to be the female tribute considering it was her first time she was at the reaping with her age.

Katniss of course decided to volunteer in her place and ,Peeta Mellark was chosen for the boys and they released they met before in flashback scenes we see he works in a bakery and katniss was outside in the rain looking like she needed help.

They was allowed to say goodbye to there family’s before they got on the train just by the look of the train you can tell the difference between the Capitals food and the districts .

Effy is there escort and Haymitch who’s a former district 12 hunger games victor his job is to mentor them and tell them how to survive in the games.

As they arrive at the capital the look of the capitals people is vastly different there look is really posh and over the top, they also are seem happy compared the districts because they don’t have to offer up any tributes.

Firstly when they got to the capital they had tributes parade where they dress them up in costumes that represents there district but katniss and Peeta had Cinna who’s there stylist try something different to get more eyes on them wearing flames .

The next part is training for the games and a chance to show of your skills district 1 and 2 train at a very young age and volunteer so they are less to care about killing the other tributes.

Katniss best skills are with the bow and Peeta is his strength and he’s good at camouflaging himself. They also had a chance to show there skill on there own and got scored out of Eleven
Katniss skill was obviously with the bow her first try was a miss but her second was a perfect shot but the head game maker Seneca Crane and the other capital officials were too busy socialising and not even caring about her so she hit a apple right next to them.

The last part before they got to the games was the interview part with Caesar Flickerman this was there finally chance to get people to like them to get sponsors, wish there was more focus on the other characters here aswell but still liked this part a lot,

katniss scene was great but the biggest part was Peeta saying he has a crush on Katniss, she didn’t like it because he was ignoring her and she thought it made her look weak, but Haymitch said it makes her desirable and he can sell the “star crossed lovers from district 12”.

Just before start the games Cinna see’s Katniss of was nice moment between the two before she went into the pod , the build up to the games so good and when the bong went of the vibe was so eerie the killings at the start were brutal.

I’ll just give a brief of my favourite parts of the games otherwise we’ll have another 50 paragraphs 😅

Loved that the game makers can had stuff to the games like shooting fire at katniss and adding them dog like creatures.

The trafferjackers part was hard to watch for someone who hates wasps ewww but cool that they give people hallucinations.

Rue caring for katniss when she was stun by the wasps was adorable but then we come to the saddest part of the movie when Marval threw the spear at Rue knew something was going to happen when I first watched but still so sad to watch.

The scenes between katniss and Peeta while I don’t like romance in films that much but I do like them together and they have great chemistry.

The end is fun a way to end things sending them game maker dogs in and then the fight with Cato.

The game makers trying to make Katniss and Peeta decide who will die after saying they could survive if they was from the same district then changing there minds shows how corrupt and heartless they are but Katniss ironically for them embarrasses them by staging a double suicide with her and Peeta knowing they would stop them as they have to have a victor to make the games mean something.

Overall lol absolutely love this film it’s realistic in a way but also just love the idea of the film

10/10

I really just love how much the movie stays true to the book and how well done it was , I usually dislike movies based on books because it ruins my ideas based on the book but hunger games just feels like it brought the book to life

I love this movie. The camerawork is phenomenal, there are so many great moments and twists that are actually really faithful to the book, the music and sound design are amazing, the actors are great, and they truly manage to capture the absolute despair, fear, casual disregard for human (childrens'!) life, and the spark that lights the fire that will burn the Capitol down (to borrow a phrase). Sure, there's some moments where the coincidences are a bit convenient, but a. I, personally, can give some leeway for this considering it's a story, after all, and b. many of those cases are in the arena where it actually makes sense for things to play out in a narratively convenient way
(such as the dogs killing Thresh so that the 12s don't have to)
because, after all, the arena is controlled by people who are literally only there to make the show interesting.
