Clown in a Cornfield

Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. I had a ton of fun with this movie. I knew nothing about it and there are some nice twists and reveals. Love all the vibes this brings and it made me laugh out loud at one point. Shout outs to Eli Craig, back in Tucker and Dale form

A fun slasher movie, that while not bad, does not stand out from other similar movies. Once I would like to see how it would look like when intelligent people face agains a killer, but not this time.

Clown In a Cornfield was a really dumb movie and wasn't scary in the slightest bit, but I did think it was entertaining and it had some cool sequences. I'd probably give it a 7.5 or 8/10

I’m completely unfamiliar with the books this film is based on, but I went into this almost completely blind and had a good time. ‘Clown in a Cornfield’ doesn’t do anything new with the horror genre (in fact, it follows a lot of horror tropes throughout its hour and a half runtime), but it manages to be a very fun time at the movies. Genre fans should definitely check it out.

Look. It's nothing new to the genre, but it is a halfway good time. A major problem is that it doesn't know whether to be a comedy horror or just a horror slasher. There's nothing to be excited for, but it is a good watch if you're folding clothes or something.

Good old-fashioned slashers never get old for horror fans as long as they're done right, and Clown in the Cornfield is like a fresh splatter into the head, with a smile.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Clown in a Cornfield’:

1. The clown thing is a bit overdone, tho I guess this takes a liiittle bit of a different spin on it. But I knew right from the uninspired beginning that I wasn’t in for anything particularly groundbreaking. It was silly fun. Could’ve been worse.

2. I had no idea that this was based on books but, as a film, the plot felt like something ChatGPT could’ve cooked up. Lots of cliches and the usual tropes. I couldn’t buy into the motive, nor the final reveal in general. I have a feeling that the books are better.

3. The LGBTQ+ aspect was a bit surprising and super sweet.

Personally I thought the movie was alright but I knew who the main murderer was before the movie was even half way through but it also didn't feel like the movie dragged. I also feel like this movie needed less clowns and more cornfields. As it says on the tin, I went into the movie thinking the killer was obviously going to be a clown and I thought the movie was going to be made within the cornfield but turns out it wasn't fully. The use of teenagers being the main character was perfect with the history of how town tend to get massacred by clowns, and the film puts together a flimsy mystery based on these murders. Like normal teen horror movies, we get a group of them slowly get picked off one by one in more and more gruesome ways. Plus, pay attention to some of the character dynamics, and a love scene will appear when least expected, though this viewer saw it coming. One doesn’t usually see that kind of scene in a teen horror dark comedy. I saw this movie with three other people in a pretty small screen so it was alright as I like seeing movies but wasn't as funny as a Scream movie.

While the movie has its horror moments and Katie Douglas is eye-candy as needed for this kind of movie, it can unfortunately just be rated average.
Especially the second part and specifically the ending is just idiotic and make no sense whatsoever. An then there is this useless and forced “we are gay” theme forced into the movie which adds to the terrible story towards the end. A shame, as there was potential.

The premise of this ruined the movie, it made absolutely no sense. Couldn't they add _some_ kind of explanation for their insane actions? Sigh.

Quinn was also so annoying, rude to her dad constantly for no reason, rude when meeting the sheriff (deserved in hindsight, but not in the moment), and a guy doesn't want to have sex with her (in a SHED during a party!) after knowing her 1 day and she got mad at him 😆 jeez.
