there are comedy movies that leave you cold, because they not hit your sense of humour. In my case these movies are everthing that Seth McFarlane produces. Ted was okay, but everything else is not my cup of tea.

And then you have actors and filmmakers which just hit your laugh-spot. And for me this is Ben Stiller.

I watched Tropic Thunder the first time with my best friends in our cellarroom with a bunch of bear sixpacks on a video projector. And it was just awesome. It was just funny as hell how the actors in the movie act and how Ben Stiller made fun of hollywood stars, war movies and the whole industry.

Now i watched the movie again and it has not lost any kind of funny over-the-top comedy action.

If you want to watch this movie, watch it with good friends. It will tripple the fun.

9/10

update 09.02.2020: I just watched it on netflix again. Boy, I really like this movie :) Sure, there are some hit-and-miss-Scenes or Scenes where the joke is to long. But for me this are only a couple of scenes. Most of the movie just works for me.

These whiny actors are portraited in the properly best way possible.

genuine fun, simple as that. just great comedic timing in every scene, all the actors did great. Ones who stand out the most to me were Downey Jr, Jack Black and Tom Cruise. McConaughey was also pretty good.

definitely had a great time

What an incredible ride!

I can’t believe it took me so long to see this, but it was worth every damm minute. The premise is bold and clever, and Ben Stiller absolutely nails it—not just with his acting but also with his writing and directing. It’s clear he poured a lot into this, and it shows in every frame.

The film’s use of sarcasm and satire is razor-sharp, and the cast couldn’t have been better chosen. Jack Black’s turn as a drugged-out “Eddie Murphy-type” trying for drama is pure gold. It might be one the best performances of him I've ever seen. Jay Baruchel and Brandon T. Jackson, though in smaller roles, bring so much to the table with their comedic timing and the hilarious running gags. They add layers to the humor and are essential for the movie's dinamic.

And then there’s Robert Downey Jr. I’d heard so much about his performance here, but even that didn’t prepare me for how he completely steals the show. His commitment to the role is incredible, and he might just be the highlight of the entire film. Honestly, I’d love to see him take on another project like this, but maybe it will never happen again after winning an Oscar.
