Mescal continues to be one of the best actors of his generation. A decent film with a surprising end.

The movie is based on several ridiculous notions. so now the government has to forcefully recruit ordinary people to send to space, if part of a couple leave a clone of sorts with the spouse.

We don't even know the realy duty of the person sent to space but there are many other government employees that put this cover up operation into place. The entire movie is not well thought out, or played out.

I found it quite boring when all is said and done

Like a hot librarian: intellectual, good looking, and doesn't speak to me.

This thinking man's sci-fi takes too much time leading us along for a payoff that is both satisfying and insufficient.

Despite two quite solid performances from Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal and an interesting and multi-layered subject matter, Foe (2023) barely manages to tell an interesting story. In direct comparison with Swan Song (2021), which approaches a comparable topic from a more interesting and productive perspective, Foe (2023) is unable to keep up.

Be patient and watch till the end. Otherwise you gonna loose the plot. Not for somebody not able to focus for long.

I'll make this short and sweet, absolutely a waste of nearly two hours.

FOEgettable. A dystopian sci-fi romance with three good central performances. Unoriginal and brings nothing new to the genre but it's not the worst version of this i've seen—or maybe it is? It doesn't hit the emotional beats it thinks it's hitting, not for me at least. It's mostly shot in the dark for some reason so there's that. The dialogue has it's moments of philosophy but it's mostly uninspired stuff you've heard a hundred times. The twist was spoiled countless times by comparing it to something else and that took a lot away for me but still, I can't see it being that surprising.

The fuck did I just watch? I get the idea they tried to sell here but… why? Tried way too hard there. Swan Song made almost the exact idea way more enjoyable to watch by keeping it down to what really matters. Nice to see Paul Mescal again though.

Does no one make normal movies anymore ? Is everything today this slow burning, supposedly intellectual, artsy stuff with dialogue you can hardly hear ? How do you expect to get your message to the audience if you don't engage them into your story ?

Maybe there is a story somewhere in all this mess - I honestly can't say because I never got into it and didn't finish. And this time even Saoirse couldn't make me want to continue.

It's not often you hit rock bottom but I watched Tammy And The T-Rex last week and this was worse.
