A soon-to-be mother is being haunted by an entity threatning to consume her. What's really haunting her is the fear and uncertainty of parenthood, slowly making it's way into her life. ***Huesera: The Bone Woman*** is a physical and mental nine months that explores the peer and social pressure to have children, a husband that's not always on the same page as you and the absolute dread of seeing your life changed forever. I was unimpressed by the supernatural stuff for most of the movie but by the end it made sense why it was included, made an interesting metaphor that actually adds to the movie's symbolism. Very clear sound, a great performance from Natalia Solián, a bit too slow in parts, some disturbing body horror visuals and loads of psychological distress.

The second postpartum motherhood anxiety i've seen this year, the first being *Baby Ruby*. They're quite similar with their thematics but they hit very different. ***Huesera: The Bone Woman*** is the better one of the two for me sinse it adresses more issues on the matter.

Folks seem to be looking only at the surface and missing a great little film that has something to say. Their loss.

I can see what this was going for, but I have to say at that point I just can't take the "crazy" girlfriend and the shitty boyfriend routine anymore.
All this not taking her seriously and telling her to relax, friends and family are not supporting her, and she and her feelings are all alone by herself.
I know this is reality, but I've just seen this happening too much and it's just infuriating. For sure, this was what the movie was aiming for, and it's horrible, but at this point it just started to annoy me. Furthermore, the horror was present but more for the protagonist than for me as a viewer. Those jump scares and artificial bone cracking as much as the overly used character relation felt just too familiar. I liked the music, the
creepy ass legless crawling lady
, but even this was sometimes a little bit funny to watch, but other scenes worked pretty well. I guess I would have enjoyed it much more if it was just about her and her past and why she is struggling so much (for sure because of her relationship, but I would guess there was more). At the end of the day, I could not really dive into all of it, but I see why people don't felt that way.

I thought it would be an occult mysterious movie but in reality its worse:
Just a drama about a selfish, annoying and horrible person. I found it really hard to care for her when all she does is avoid responsibility. She's just an immature person who doesn't know what she wants and constantly cries to make herself look like the victim. No thanks.
Watching this story of the protagonist and everybody turning unjustly against her is like reading a highly biased and edited post of "Am I The Asshole?" on Reddit and everybody reading it goes "Yes! How can you not see that you are the problem?"

Long boring movie, I heard/read amazing reviews before and that’s why I gave it a chance but those were far from the truth. I really like ‘bad’ horror movies but this one was by far one of the worst. The main character was just selfish and annoying it was so hard for me to sympathize with her … it’s a really slow movie but with some good effects , so sad they were part of this
