Great movie all around. from regina king's phenomenal performance and the late great lance reddick is force of nature with a strong on-screen presence. this is a biopic done right

Good performances from the cast but the movie wasn't as impactful as it could have been.

The acting was amazing, but Regina's accent really confused me at times. The story and production was great, but you could tell it was a set in afew scenes. The pacing lacked some juice and tension. It's great as an educational watch because it takes you through the whole presidential run but as an entertaining one, not so much. The editing really impressed me by feeling somewhat archival. All in all, it's not bad or good. Just in the middle.

Workmanlike direction, by the numbers biopic with clunky expositional biopic lines, anchored by a strong performance from the lead, still flattens a complex and meaningful figure into mere iconography. Spike Lee’s Malcolm X these are not. Lance Reddick made the most out of every role and I miss him dearly, and if nothing else this film reminded me to continue my watch through of his filmography, so there’s that.
