Girl in the Basement

Hard to watch, as someone already said. Very disturbing movie. Very well made. I felt her pain. I cried with her.

What a fucked up father this is and to think this is a true story… But this girl is really strong, despite her misfortunes, she still tried to provide the best for her children. I salute her.

I did not see this coming! Just thought it was a simple being held captive story but I did not know the degree! Wow. I’ll be honest when I realized it was a true story, I watched the movie in the background while reading all up on this story. I liked having the movie to paint the picture more. It is definitely not a story for the faint at heart.

This movie is great and really hard to watch knowing that it's based on true story

Röhm did a really good job on her directorial debut. The movie is a bit hard to watch as it is based on true events in Austria. On the one hand, it's amazing to see just how sick and depraved a mind can be, on the other hand, Röhm managed to inject some humanity into this story and make really care and feel for the victims.

This is based on the true story Josef Fritzl. This movie is horrifying to watch. You have to keep reminding yourself this really happened, and that makes it so hard to watch. It gives you a very small insight into what Elisabeth must have gone through. I’m just glad that poor girl finally found some sort of freedom.
