Ewan McGregor's character is beyond detestable in the first half of the movie, but no matter how much I wanted to hate him, the second half (and honestly the whole first half besides him) redeems the movie.

I truly enjoyed it, although I still don't like the fact Emily Blunt
literally abandons her boyfriend at the end
. That scene felt very forced, low and distasteful for me.

It was a beautiful movie and well worth the watch. I haven't read the book but for now I am glad that I haven't. It as a subtle and sweet romance. A lesson in faith.
