Barbarians

A civilized dinner party in a country house sees four friends, Lucas, Adam, Chloe, and Eve, coming together for a birthday celebration. As the night progresses secrets and lies force themselves into the light and polite pretensions are dropped. A knock at the door reveals three masked intruders with an agenda of their own. Will their friendship stand the test? Can they survive the night or will their secrets eventually catch up with them?
Equal parts slow burn uncomfortable dinner party and home invasion. Doesn't always work but it's a fun ride. I thought the dinner/family drama was the least interesting part about it, but it's quite effective as a horror film, though it takes too much time to get there. Technically, it's a well-made film. The cinematography is nice in places and both soundtrack and score amp up scenes. It's nice to see Tom Cullen here and the male lead is cute but he can really get on my nerves. His character is the dumbest and no character in here is that well fleshed out, and that eventually ruin the family drama part for me. It loses quite a lot of steam and feels aimless but once it reaches that third act it is undeniably awesome! It's funny how the masked invaders have more personality than the main characters.
