So people are not liking this because they've watched the original and think it's better

I just think they want to brag that they've watched the original It's becoming a trend "oh it's just an unnecessary remake" or "it's not as good as the book"

Well, I don't care if it had an original or a book or a true a story. A movie should be judged as a standalone movie

It's good, for people who love the creepy thriller genre I'd say go and watch it, don't give a damn about complainers

By the way, even the kids did some good acting & the director successfully managed to bring the desired creepy atmosphere.

I liked it. And yes, I have not watched the original, but as a movie I think it stands for itself. It is a good thriller that made me wonder what was happening until the last minutes when I got it, so it is not predictable nor absurdly unpredictable.

Remake of the German original. Still good, but like mostly with these American remakes, it cannot match the original with the same title.

Mixed feelings about this one. The original is a little bit better; although it's not a 1:1 copy.

worth watching for naomi watts alone, though the twins are pretty good actors for their age and i enjoyed them. i haven't seen the original but it's been on my to watch list for a while and this makes me want to see it even more.

I was going to give it a 5 but the final twist was actually awesome so I'll give it a 7. the acting is also really good. worth a watch for sure

The original movie was bleak and violent; Sobel's movie is softer in approach. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but you won't get the same emotional experience with this one.

Watched the original about a year ago and it's pretty much the same movie but there's a few tweaks. Not quite enough for it to have a reason for existing except for people that hate subtitles. Naomi Watts does a much better version of Mother but I prefer the other version of the twins. A remake we didn't need but it was worth it because of Naomi Watts. She's good at doing remakes as proven with *Funny Games*.

I had no knowledge of the previous movie, but found this enjoyable enough. The problem is that it's predictable. It's too easy to guess what is happening with the twins, Mother's anger gives it a away - what was supposed to be a reason for fear is actually a big hint.
