so heartbreaking!
he came back from the island and he felt more alone than ever in his room.
loved the ending, “And I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?”

I've never seen this movie before but after I read Robinson Crouso I decided to watch it. I thought it's the same but I had to realize pretty soon that is not haha I very liked it btw and I don't know how I haven't seen it yet. I hoped that Friday will appear but we got Wilson instead and it's okay too :) Tom Hanks is awesome as always but it isn't a surprise :)

There's really a whole lot more to this than just Tom Hanks alone on an island. It works on a visceral level as a straightforward tale of survival amidst the harshest conditions imaginable, but underneath the surface there's all manner of allegorical goodness also at play. It's intense and powerful no matter how you choose to take it, though, and that's the sign of a real masterwork.

That whole stack of cards teeters on Hanks's work in the central role, of course, and he flat-out crushes it. In a way, his whole career up to this point has been preparing him for this kind of an effort; I can see shreds of many of his earlier roles, alive in his gamut of expressions, as he slowly, grimly comes to terms with the fact that there's no form of rescue on the horizon. He's familiar but lost, a modern-day everyman denied his tool belt, stripped bare to the very core of his being. It's an all-world performance, easily among the best of his career, though it didn't quite draw the accolades that his turns in Philadelphia or Forrest Gump enjoyed.

Behind the lens, Robert Zemeckis also hands in some of his best work. Experimenting with before-their-time camera angles and quick, effective snapshots of daily life on the island, he's able to evolve his craft without losing touch with his typically warm, lush brand of storytelling. And, needless to say, Cast Away's famous crash scene remains one of film's most historically intense, white-knuckle rides. I didn't realize I'd been holding my breath until it was all over. A fantastic picture that only stumbles in the payoff, lingering in the moment for longer than it really should, then momentarily giving in to its indulgent, romantic side.
"I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing, because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?"
Gotta love a good one man survivor movie! My favourite thing in these movies is always how crafty they get with how little they have. I don't know why, it's just as satisfying as those ridiculous life hack videos on instagram, except in these movies they actually have some, nay, every, use.

And of course... Tom Hanks. One of the greats. But I think the scene stealer has to be Wilson, man, what a presence, what a talent.

Nah, now seriously, it's a great movie, but I'm probably 18 years too late with watching it, because since Cast Away's release there have been a billion more stranded on a deserted island movies, and this one doesn't feel that special. I'm sure it was when it came out though and... again... Tom Hanks.

Cast Away is a film that, despite starting with a fairly simple premise, grows in depth and emotional strength as the story unfolds. Tom Hanks delivers an outstanding performance as Chuck Noland, a man who, after being stranded on a deserted island, is forced to fight for his survival.

The film revolves around the human struggle for survival, desperation, and hope. It’s a story about someone who had it all but, through tragedy, must re-evaluate everything in order to survive and find freedom. As the film progresses, we witness a strong character development, with Hanks delivering one of his best performances, particularly in scenes like the one where he performs a tooth extraction with a skate – one of the most painful and gripping moments in the film.

The emotional weight also lies in the relationship between Chuck and Wilson, the volleyball he makes his only companion. Despite Wilson being an object, the film and Hanks manage to make us feel an incredible sense of presence and emotional attachment to it. This contributes to the film’s unique way of telling a story about isolation and loneliness.

With strong performances, especially from Hanks, Cast Away is a film about fighting, living, and surviving. It’s not just a story of survival on an island, but also a profound reflection on life, hope, and freedom.

It's a great film but no way would his tan have gone in 4 weeks..
You could just tell the ending was filmed at the beginning. Such a shame.
If they had filmed it in sequence it would have been a cinematic masterpiece.

Some of my favourite films have come from Zemeckis and Cast Away is one of them and it’s the only film that a volly ball called wilson can make me cry. Wilson!! Tom Hanks never gets boring and always pulls off a great performance.

A classic. A modern Robinson Crusoe with Wilson instead of Friday. Except for the overly presence of advertising for a delivery company, it is a great movie.
