The Exorcism of God

one of the best horror genre movies of '22... that I've seen.

Watched this movie last night and was completely blown. [/spoiler The movie opens with a priest ignoring his superiors and going ahead with an exorcism. The botched attempt results in the priest being burdened with a pretty horrific secret he will carry with him until his next encounter with the demon. Flash-forward and it is now the time the priest must (indeed) confront his demon(s).]

The movie looks and feels sinister. The audience should be surprised at how well the movie is acted and directed. The visuals are simply stunning. I recommend this highly. The film is rated "R" for disturbing images, and adult situations.

One of the best horror movies to be concerned with. Great effects and great elaboration of horror. It could just be a slightly better story. Fans of traps will get their money's worth. It will freeze your back the next day. Super show for me.

The Exorcism of God manages to expertly skirt the line between hilarious, stupid and awesome all at the same time. It's awfully cheesy, has some really impressive exorcism/possession set pieces and decent tension filled jump scares for popcorn horror aficionados. It is the definition of a B movie punching above its weight class, as long as you're willing to swallow the cheesy delivery, ropey acting chops and wild special effects to get to the holy-water-splashing centre. A good ride if you can keep your expectations in check.

Entertaining and well-made possession-exorcism horror. Perhaps not the most compelling story and characters, but it is a whole lot of fun due to campiness. It delivers both good scares and good campy fun and this is probably the most fun I had watching this type of film. The exorbitant amount of CGI and cheap jump scares can be quite annoying but there's still some good tension and just right amount of creepiness that sucked me in. I also appreciate the attempts to shake up this uninteresting subgenre. The plot takes some interesting turns and even at some points it feels like watching a zombie film. Overall, it's a solid campy fun it's hard to focus on the negative.

This isn't a throwaway B-movie but neither is it a great horror flick. It's well made but as it's too derivate of other, better movies, it ultimately disappoints.

Terrible storyline that feels more like a low budget straight to DVD movie. No scares and the possessed look more like zombies. If you want to see a proper exorcism storyline then watch The Enfield Haunting.

The movie is terrible in every way. The story is poor, sinking into clichés and predictability, the dialog is so bad that it borders on the bizarre, and the performances are very weak, creating cartoonish scenes, losing themselves in exaggeration. The effects and make-up are extremely artificial, everything is very badly done, and worst of all, the movie tries to take itself seriously, making it embarrassing to watch and difficult to finish.
