It could have been quite good but too often it felt like some plot points and moments had to be there for a specific purpose rather than out of a coherent narrative structure. Like having an idea for a movie, having bullet points for the scenes that have to fit in and building the picture itself around those rather than the other way round.

Hawke&McGregor would make a great duo in some sort of "In Bruges"-y dark comedy, would love to see them again in some project

The lead actors are fine but the film is pretty mediocre. I expected something better with the talents involved.

[tv+] A pleasant comedy that begins as a buddy movie and reveals itself as a reflection on the family that works when there are some moments of dark humor. But there is, as in other projects by Rodrigo García, an intention to cover many topics and want to be very transcendental, when in reality it fails to outline the characters with the necessary depth to seem real. There is little that Ewan McGregor and Maribel Verdú can do with their superficial characters, in a film that fades as it unfolds.

Well acted, funny with poignant, hope-filled message(s) regarding estranged family members.
