A total blast. An homage to several old horror flicks, that's hilariously done. Great characters, great dialog, awesome effects. I love this movie, and it still holds up.

Hooptober Eight: Hooptober takes Manhattan!
"If I weren't about to shit in my pants right now, I'd be fuckin' fascinated."
Still can't believe Jenna Fischer is even a receptionist here, Nathan Fillion being the best, Michael Rooker totally rocking it, Elizabeth Banks being fantastic, great effects, loads of gore, all those damn references, so many great jokes and Gregg Henry rocking it as Jack MacReady.
Still don't know why I didn't bought this one when I was younger. It was so cheap all the time but I wasn't that into horror back then and I think I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I do know with soo much more movie knowledge.
Anyway James Gunn's Slither still rocks and is one of the 00's horror gems.

Of course James Gunn would make a horror film that has a comedic and disgusting tone to it, and that's a compliment! This is just as good as the first time I saw it, and hope he gets back to making more horror movies in the future.

For fans of 80's horror in particular. It's not easy to be constantly entertaining, but this does it. I've read the negative comments on imdb and they are mostly shallow. It's gross? It was meant to be. It's not as good as movie x y and z? Defensive and this movie is a homage to mostly 80's cheese (I suppose it's only cool to like modern 80's horror style when it's Stranger Things, which was completely contrived 80's.) Boring? If that's what your opinion is, that's OK. Not funny? It's humorous, and another opinion. It's silly/stupid? Yes it is. Some people are above fun and see that as a negative, I forgot.
It's not perfect by any means. Its well written. It is stupid and fun. It will remind you of other movies. It that bother you, don't watch it.
Here's a re some movies it may remind you of.
Shivers. Night of the creeps. Society. Tremors. The Blob. The faculty. The Fly.

It's just perfectly cheesy enough to make it fun, and it has a hell of a cast!

Not scary. Just beautiful GORE. Bloody sperm-looking slugs from outer space that turn people into meat puppets. If you are squeamish about body disfigurement, don't do it. My apologies to animal lovers as well.

A fun horror flick that feels like a spoof of an '80s movie.Although I found the ending to be a little underwhelming, it pleasantly surprised me overall. Would watch again.

This is a jammed packed homage to the horror genre and it has everything that you really want out of B-horror films. It feels really well balanced as far as horror comedy goes. The comedy is quite good for a 2000s film and the horror is genuinely nasty and gross. There is tons of grotesque practical effects that enhance the appeal of the film and the combination of practical and CGI works really well here. Story-wise, I keep thinking of Rabid while watching this but the film itself is so much fun. Some elements of the casting don’t really work well though. I thought Nathan Fillion and Elizabeth Banks have zero chemistry. Michael Rooker is great but sadly he does not get enough screen time. Overall it's still a decent watch. James Gunn clearly loves horror and hopefully he can take a break from those superhero nonsense.
