How can such a short story make me cry so much? It's beautiful yet so heartbreaking :(

It's nice, nothing deeply emotional, but a really nice story. It's weird how young she is in the beginning, tho..

A Heartwarming Tale of Forbidden Love:

This movie is about a girl, Hotaru, who gets lost in a forest and meets a teen boy, Gin, who cannot be touched by humans as it risks his existence. This movie covers the bond between Hotaru and Gin over the years, Gin's backstory, and the future that awaits them.
The movie has a good storyline for the romance in a larger-than-life subject, as the boy belongs to the spirit world, the girl is humane, and they can't touch each other. The bonding scenes were written well, as the girl grew over the years and the teen boy ages too slowly. Hotaru forgets Gin's curse and tries to touch him, but Gin knocks her with the stick; Hotaru gifts him once in a while.

The threat of the curse being reminded by other spirits is also good as the relationship becomes close between Gin and Hotaru. The climax is when Gin invites Hotaru to the spirit festival. They go as a couple, and Gin puts a mask on Hotaru and kisses her. Accidentally, Gin touches a human kid; he asks Hotaru to give him a final hug, and the spirits thank Hotaru for being a good companion to Gin and giving what he wishes for. The emotions were held high as the movie ended. I wish the climax would be as Gin's curse gets broken and gives them a happy end.
The voice acting was good for every character. The writers did a great job, and the director executed it well. Appreciation for the animators as the mountains, festival, and each frame were visual treats to the eyes.

In conclusion, I liked this movie. The short duration of the movie is the best decision to adapt a short story. I definitely suggest checking it out.

[6/10] _Hotarubi no Mori e_ (AKA _To the Forest of Firefly Lights_) came highly recommended, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. While many find it deeply emotional, I was left feeling underwhelmed. The story was basic, and the ending, though intended to be sad, just felt a little disappointing. There were some cute moments, and the nostalgic atmosphere was a nice touch, but it's not something I'll ever think about watching again. It may be worth it for some anime fans. It's a short watch at least, but I think I would have enjoyed it more had it been longer!
