Great start and then it all turn to sh$t.
Began well but the potential was squandered. Shame.
I didn't understand this movie.
What a nonsensical mess of a film and it ends with the usual cringy Netflix cliffhanger, but I have to admit it's still quite interesting and mildly enjoyable. It starts off very promising but devolves into a mess with a nonsense plot. The whole film doesn't seem to operate with any logical consistency. There are so many ideas it tries to fit in but never really tries to explore them in anything but a superficial way. The attempts on blending the science fiction with supernatural elements is very dopey and undercuts the real creep factor. However, it's a bit fun if you see it as a silly film. What it’s lacking in coherent plotting and dialogue it makes up in atmosphere and some good body horror moments. The performances are good as well. I wish that it had fully committed to the sci-fi elements instead of blending it with supernatural as it clearly didn't work.
A mediocre to bad german teen horror movie.
The story is flawed and feels rushed. One thing I don't like it, when a movie fullfills typical movie cliches. And theres a lot here:
1. Often directors think they are smart and try to hide the main plot of the movie in the first minutes of a movie. To give hints to the viewers. It's very original isn't it?! So how its done here:
First school lesson (we are 10 min. in movie) the teacher talks about mushrooms and effects. And oh wonder - yes that is indeed the main plot in the movie -.-
2. Its not good if you know right from the start who is an evil person (especially if viewer should not know it so early!). Well right 10min in movie you can tell from the behaviour of the doctor who subscribes medication, that she knows more than she wants us to believe.
3. Why not apply some one liners to be cool? Here we go: "Take that Bit***s!" or how about the statement at the end of movie (when car falls into water) like: "I really liked the car."
Cool one liners work in iconic movies like die hard, rambo, generally from action hereos we know - but here they seem out of place and just dumb.
4. Lets put some creepy over the top sounds in here because people dont know how to feel in a horror movie without loud creepy classical music effects! -.-
5. Acting was mediocre to bad. Main protoganist was the best.
Its barely watchable, but I can't say it was good. The film also borrowed a lot from other movies.
Redeeming element: Good cinematography!
