I'm doing a Anaconda + Lake Placid marathon today. Because at one point they did a cross over movie. I started watching Anaconda (the first movie of the Anaconda franchise) after Lake Placid franchise's pilot movie. I think both movies are very enjoyable, over 2 decades since they first came out.
I don't recall watching any of the sequels of these franchises. I'm going in with a low bar. Hopefully they are not terrible.
An entertaining B-Movie with a fine cast.
I believe Siskel & Ebert loved Jon Voight’s “something sour in his mouth” face performance. The movie isn’t perfect but it’s entertaining with a fine cast. It even has the new voice of Fred and Scooby-Doo as the voice of the Anaconda, for some reason lol.
Jack Black and Paul Rudd in the remake/reboot doesn’t appeal to me. Yes Owen Wilson was in the original but before he broke as a comedian actor.
That doesn’t mean the new movie needs Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
> "This river can kill you in a thousand ways."
As someone who grew up near the Amazon, I can tell you: They get a lot wrong about snakes in this, but does it really matter? They built an animatronic snake and filmed in the actual Amazon. That is some dedication to creature feature work that many miss now with cheap CGI. Some of the acting is pretty good too.
It’s a piece of crap, but it’s my piece of crap. I love this movie.
This is one of the dogshit movies you somehow still enjoyed for reasons unknown.
I know it doesn't deserve a 6...but it's a 6 to me.
How they cast these folks in a B movie is beyond me. Jon Voight? He must have been broke.
Jon Voight is killing it in this terrible movie.
I watched this. It sucked. That is my review.
PS: Sorry for the spoiler.
It's definitely a bad movie but my god it truly deserves a place in the "It's so bad that it's good" category. This is all thanks to Jon Voight and his ridiculous accent, he hams it up to oblivion in this movie. All the crazy faces and smiles he makes in this movie and most of his lines should be memes lol.
