So, there is his indigenous boy who gets sent to an orphanage after he kills (?) a white man. Why ? Why does he kill him ? He can perform miracles such as healing and even reviving. Again, why ?
There is this nun who lies about the death of the orphanage's master. Why ?
After the boy gets christened he looses his special powers. You may know what comes next. Right, why ?
I think by now you get my problem with the movie.

This is the kind of movie you either find horrible or fascinating. It can go either way. Me, I'm leaning towards the first. It is certainly well shot. But it just didn't engage me in any way or form. I started doing stuff on the side about 30 min in.
I also didn't find the boys acting so special. It was just monotonous and certainly didn't help to get a like for the character.
I don't really get it how filmmakers think they can bring their stories across with those kind of movies. Then again, maybe they are only interested in a certain demographic. Because films like this are certainly not for masses. I think there is a contradiction because it should be in the filmmakers ineterest to reach as many people as possible, no ? And maybe, just maybe, if you go through the trouble making this a period correct drama don't have your main character appear with dyed emo look hair.
