A very successful cross-dressing comedy with a brilliant Jessica Lange.
The only show I know Jessica Lange from is the American Horror Story, so it was surprising to see in her young ages.
I was 18 when I saw this for the first time. Still a good film, for sure not forgettable, as I can recall many scenes from 41 years ago. Not bad, indeed.
Not the best film about a man secretly playing a woman but it's still pretty good. Young Bill Murray is great.
Although no Some Like it Hot or Mrs. Doubtfire, Tootsie is a worthy cross-dressing comedy. Some scenes truly had me laughing. Great cast. Great writing. Great movie.
The whole movie is *just* fine. The acting is fine, although if I am being honest I thought Hoffman was pretty mediocre in certain scenes when he was being himself. I take it back - Terri Garr is fantastic, but she is fantastic in anything she is in. I don't understand how this is considered to be a classic in many circles.

It takes anything fun from the classic film "Some Like It Hot" and turns it into a politicized women's lib piece.
Dusting Hoffman crossdresses and tries to get laid.
In my child memories movie was much better.
