This is a decent movie. What red blooded young man hasn't fantasised about an older woman? Just like in this story, most of the time it's because they are dating a dumb immature chick at the time. In the end what every man needs is a woman who takes care of him. As we grow older and become more and more independent the age of the woman matters less and less. At my age I really do not care whether the woman is younger or older than me. I'm wealthy and independent enough to not give a damn about other people's opinions on relationships.
If you liked this movie, there's another movie you might like named Cairo Time (starring Patricia Clarkson; https://trakt.tv/movies/cairo-time-2009). That one is a hidden gem with a similar vibe.
This movie ultimately boils down to two people making a connection in the most unlikely of places with the most unlikely of places. The intimacy between Hemsworth and Dern is unbelievable, and the last act of the film is by far the best part of the movie. I think the cherry on top is that the age difference is not mentioned at all as doing so would have missed the point and taken away from the story.

This film is a pure romantic-drama escapism.Nothing we haven't seen before but it was an easy watch due to Laura and Liam.
Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth star in the romantic drama _Lonely Planet_. The story follows the boyfriend of a writer who accompanies his girlfriend to an international writers retreat where he befriends another writer, but their relationship soon becomes something more. Both Dern and Hemsworth give good performances, but the plot is predictable and is full of the usual tropes. And the way the film pushes the audience to want the boyfriend to have an affair comes off as a little unseemly. While it has some impressive performances and beautiful scenery, _Lonely Planet_ is a mediocre and stereotypical romance that’s pretty forgettable.
I just hope David Lynch doesn’t see this
I was enjoying this movie immensely until the third act where it went down the toilet. There is no way in hell that Liam Hemsworth would fall in love with Laura Dern. Characters of the movie of course. Completely unnecessary.
Great movie. I highly recommend it.
I really liked the premise, and the location had a feeling of a resort, but the pacing were off, many scenes felt stretched out while some important ones weren't mentioned (like why Owen accompanied Lily in the first place, everyone else came alone, or when Owen didn't tell Katherine he and Lily were over, and Katherine didn't bother to ask, not a very good look). Katherine not backing up her book in any possible way also feels like a very lazy script-writing.
Also, what's Owen doing now? The ending felt abrupt, after the whole movie felt prolonged. Again, weird pacing. But for the views and casting - was worth watching.
what's with the old woman meet young man lately?
