An 80's guilty pleasure buddy cop film. With Walter Hill as director; it's pretty much 48 Hrs but with a Russian.

I kind of expected it to be a little bit more Schwarzenegger-ish, but I guess Belushi was a good counter part so there's that. Neither my favourite buddy movie nor my favourite Schwarzenegger but still a very okay movie for a ~~COCAINUM~~ beer night with your friends.

Decent buddy cop movies but felt like they took 2 scripts and tried to combine them into one. The two worlds doesn't mix that well because the humor isn't on point. I feels like the movie doesn't know which leg to stand on. Still, not a waste of time.

Walter Hill directing Arnold Schwarzenegger in a buddy-cop film? That is something I'm interested in! We even have Arnold play a Russian Cop!

I must say, I enjoyed it! Not as much as some of Walter Hill's other films but it is still a film that holds up very well. Arnold's non-reactions to James Belushi's jokes are fantastic. We also get some nice action with a great final act and some fun one-liners. I loved the scene with the wooden leg! Anyway Arnold was being told to tone it down, so that it would be more realistic instead of having him say dozens of one-liners. Which is what I understand, and I get the choice! It was nice for a change!

Red Heat is perfect saturday night entertainment, even though I watched it on a Tuesday!

An OK Arnold outing, but as a whole, Red Heat is just an average action movie. Belushi is his usual obnoxious self, and Schwarzenegger does a passable stone-faced Russian. The action is good, but the story is as stupid as only 80's action movie stories can be. It's not a bad movie, just a rather forgettable one.

Liberal use of "hysterical woman gets in the way trick". I didn't know this was a thing, but now I know, it is a thing. I have to ask, does this say something about Walter hills personal life? Mediocre, by today's standards. What the hell am I saying? Hollywood puts out some really lame movies these days. Back then, I think this was considered to be a good movie. Now, it's ordinary surface level junk. No depth to the characters. Just a series of events with a lot of stupid one liners and implausible scenarios.
