This was an awesome movie. I couldn’t tell where it was headed. I really loved how they pulled it all together. I don’t wanna give away the end, but I couldn’t tell really who is crazy and who is not. I’d recommend this to anyone though.
I like ! What a good idea to mix science and beliefs..... But lol I never thought the ghost would REALLY SPEAK ! I'll watch it again, I confirm. The movie is simple, no weird supernatural stuff but I did feel my heart beating like crazy 😂
Thank you !
Sleep, directed by Jason Yu, is a gripping South Korean thriller that explores the psychological turmoil of a sleep-deprived mother, Soo-jin, who fears for her family’s safety. The film opens with an unsettling premise: Soo-jin's husband, Hyun-su, exhibits disturbing sleepwalking behaviors that escalate from harmless mutterings to dangerous actions. As Soo-jin grapples with her anxiety and exhaustion, the tension mounts, creating an atmosphere thick with dread.
The cinematography skillfully transforms their cozy apartment into a claustrophobic labyrinth, heightening the sense of danger. The performances by Jung Yu-mi and Lee Sun-kyun are particularly noteworthy, as they convincingly portray the unraveling dynamics of their relationship under stress.
While the film starts with a blend of humor and suspense, it shifts towards more traditional horror elements in its climax.
Despite some narrative missteps, Sleep effectively keeps viewers on edge, making it a compelling watch for fans of the genre
Creating an unpleasant, anxious mood by balancing on the edge of the unknown, a chamber thriller about those who can get into the head when a person is most defenseless against the forces of Evil. At night, when you fall asleep, the line becomes especially thin. Isn’t this madness? The answers are dangerous. Sleep
Basic but solid film. I really didn't understand Lee Sun-Kyun's performance though. So all over the place, waiting for him to do something.
I'm not sure what to make of this film. It has a solid opening and premise. I don't mind the ambiguous ending,
which I interpreted as the husband placating his wife via his skills as an actor.
I enjoy it when movies blur the lines. For example, I think the amazing film Hereditary would've been better had the last few minutes been left on the cutting room floor (leaving what happened up in the air). This typed, in the connect-the-dots that are movies, one or two were missing here. An example:
When Soo-Jin (the wife) hits Hyun-su (the husband) over the head and tapes him up. That seems like a large leap. In addition, at the end, what happened to Jin-hyeok (the neighbor's child) and the security guard at the door? If we entered Soo-Jin's delusion, it wasn't apparent - That is, if she's delusional.
All in all, I appreciate this film. It's more interesting than frightening (although parts are intense). All the elements are there, they just didn't coalesce for me. A character appears to suddenly take a left turn without signaling well. It's mostly understated, which isn't a bad thing - although something seemed lacking - editing, cinematography, score? I'm not sure. I do think this is worth watching and I look forward to the director's next project. The acting is very nice. This was really close. As always, your experience may differ from mine.
really slow and bad movie.
just the "keep rolling" is awful. the ending is "happy"? not horror.
It's a pretty good movie which puts together multiple ideas used in horror and somehow makes it work.
But...when she did the PowerPoint presentation explaining why he was possessed I've lost it :))
