The Italian Job

Charlie Croker pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that he didn't plan on was being double-crossed. Along with a drop-dead gorgeous safecracker, Croker and his team take off to re-steal the loot and end up in a pulse-pounding, pedal-to-the-metal chase that careens up, down, above and below the streets of Los Angeles.

A enjoyable action flick about a BIG robbery. Fast paced and pepped up with some intrigues within the gangster organization. Prepare for some plot twists...

I think I have said it before, but I tend to enjoy these heist movies way too much. The Italian Job is by no means stellar film making, but it's got decent acting, some really good and exciting heists, and of course...Charlize Theron. I don't need much more to feel entertained, and I highly doubt anyone else that likes heist movies need more either.

Charlize Theron looks so natural and beautiful in this movie. I think this came out in the same year as Monster, which earned her the Oscar. They were all so young. Even Marky Mark and Jason Statham. I haven't seen the original Italian Job from the 60s (need to find it). Some say, that's better than this version. However, this has been my all time favourite heist movies for over two decades since I first saw it.

Love this movie. I think I've watched it 3 or 4 times already and will watch it again. It has plotholes in it big enough to fly a plane through, of course, but it's so much fun. It has its tense moments but it has plenty of lighthearted moments as well. Great cast, great acting, decent storyline (okay, it's a bit of a stretch, yes, but it's still fun) and a great finish. All the ingredients for a great hour-and-a-half movie that will keep you entertained. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a try; I loved it every time I watched it, and I will definitely watch it again.

Wow! This was unexpectedly good :)

I didn't expect much as I only added this to my watchlist due to the MINIs (since I drive one and like them - especially the two that appeared in this movie: the classic MINI and the R53 from BMW with the nice supercharger whine <3).

Anyway, so I basically knew nothing about this movie but that there are MINIs in it and got a few nice surprises. I don't recall ever seeing Mark Wahlberg and Jason Statham that young - that was quite nice and funny. And I didn't even recognize Edward Norton (I did at least watch the first Hulk movie but perhaps I haven't seen that many other movies with him?).

John dying at the beginning was so heartbreaking! It really made me angry after that nice conversation with Charlie, this being his final mission, and his desire to reconnect with his daughter (sucks that he didn't got to do that). I was then looking forward for their revenge on Steve for the rest of the movie.

The classic MINI was portrayed in such a great way and I love that Stella is driving it and can drive that well (IMO there are way too few movies with female drivers).
The plot was interesting and offered a few nice "surprises" (they basically already indicated most of those surprises just before they happened but I didn't mind that at all).

I also liked the ending. Steve kinda got what he deserved (I don't wish torture on anyone so prison would've been nicer but just robbin him wouldn't have really been enough... - they're quite lucky that Steve messed with the wrong guys) and Charlie and Stella make a nice couple (plus Charlie can tell Stella more about her father and because John was also kinda a father for Charlie).

There were also quite a few funny scenes like when Left Ear and Charlie said "I love you" to each other when they planted the bombs :D

This film although has the penitential to be a great heist film feel short of something special. While The Italian Job has an excellent cast and the heist themselves were entertaining to watch unfold, the plot seemed mild to me with the element of a revenge flick mixed in which it doesn't pull off well. Besides the plot overall The Italian Job was very thrilling to watch even for just seeing the cast and the heists themselves and still better than most other films in its genre.

Imagine that after stealing gold worth a million, betrayal comes from the closest people to you

The story revolves around a massive heist in Venice, Italy, where a team of professional thieves successfully steals a large amount of gold. After the successful robbery, one team member betrays the others, stealing the money and leaving them to die.

The story follows the team's attempts to seek revenge and recover what was stolen by planning a new heist in Los Angeles.

The film is great from the start, showing a team made up of individuals each with a specific role, the revenge story, and how everything is meticulously planned.

We also see how money can sometimes turn even the closest people against you. The movie is full of excitement and suspense, offering a mix of thrilling action scenes and a solid plot.

The story is ordinary, but the execution is excellent, especially the cast.
