Had potential. It was just missing so much.
So good to still see action movies directed by John woo
The Killer (2024) - ❤x7
It's a pretty standard assassination movie but surprisingly it was a lot of fun!
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
I haven't seen the original yet, but I enjoyed this version, good action with some interesting twists and turns. Good battle at church ⛪. Zee and Sey make a good team. Worth a watch. 👍
The Killer is a pretty cool
made-for-streaming action film with solid
performances, fun set pieces, plenty of
melodrama to go around, and Woo's
signature wordplay that may inspire
eye-rolls from some but a sensible
chuckle from those of us with good taste.
A movie based on a main character who is a decent Errant Knight archetype. A tad too long at over 2 hours, imho.
Why did the slowmo shots look so bad and even worse transitions?
Either The John Woo of old is gone, or I have matured as a moviegoer. Either way, a needless and soulless reboot to arguably his best movie.
Woo is there ever a lot of slo-mo! Johnny is back with another action spectacular. The problem is that 2/3 of the scenes look ai generated or at worst manipulated w unnatural CGI. Some of the slo-mo is actually fun and the chemistry between the leads kept me intrigued. I was well aware pretty early on this was a b shoot em up masquerading as a smart, stylish thriller.
Don't regret watching it. Was fun enough, but enough holes to fill some of the baddies.
5.3
What a waste. It just fell flat.
