This is one of my all-time favourite movies, it's so suspenseful with small comedic aspects throughout which makes it such a joy to watch. I don't know why the rating is so low and people give this movie a bad rap, for a 2004 flick it's done incredibly well and is very entertaining!!
I dont know why people hate this movie, i loved it. Its a good action movie with a bunch of actors that we know...not the best movie ever but surely entertainable for 1,5 hours
Really nice little action movie with great comedic elements. The Rick Hoffman scenes were really funny. the bad rating isn't justified.
The structure and execution of this film overshadow its corny script and lame comedy gags. It has several satisfying set ups and payoffs with very little fat making it a solid real time action story.
> "Everybody's on a cell phone."
Cellular is both cheesy and intense at moments. Some of the reveals remind me of the show 24, which was popping off when this came out. I would say this is a middle of the road thriller with some lighter jokes thrown in at the right time.
Not bad, but not unique. I finished thinking I'd watched this very storyline a few times before.
As boring as the 2008 remake. All the actors are pretty terrible in this one. Well, the phone does a solid job, I guess.
Plot is way overstretched (ie, there's a dozen moments where the situation could've been resolved by smarter people), so you have 90 min of people making dumb decisions to keep the movie going. The movie does manage to keep the tension up, so you may still be entertained in between sequences of people acting like total idiots.
Most enjoyable (read: laughable) part was watching the closing credits where they cut the roles into a first person shot of a hand holding the exact same phone, even when preceded by a scene where a character was holding a completely different device… at least Nokia got their money's worth in advertisement.
Not an insufferably bad movie; just subpar.
