BRATS

In the 1980s, Andrew McCarthy was part of a young generation of actors who were set to take over Hollywood after a string of successful teen movies. However, when the New York magazine cover story in 1985 dubs them the Brat Pack, stars in the making suddenly find themselves losing control over the trajectory of their careers. Now, almost forty years later, McCarthy looks to reconnect with peers and co-stars so that together they can reflect on their respective legacies.

Brats (2024) - ❤x8

What I found most interesting is what I already expected. For the most part, it appears that the actors in or adjacent to the Brat Pack never really hung out with each other than during the filming of their movies and that the "Pack" was just a contrivance of the media.

It was also interesting to see them reminisce about the experience 35 years later and how it affected each of them.

If you like the Brat Pack or one or more of the movies associated with them - you will enjoy this.

How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!

The life lesson as DR Demi would say - things are for you they don't happen to you, so use it!

On one hand, it was interesting enough to watch if only for having grown up watching these group of actors in all those films from my childhood. But on the other hand, it very much plays out like a therapy session and possibly the search for validation from Andrew McCarthy specifically which was at times hard to watch. Also, I found the filming a bit distracting with the excessive camera cuts, wobbly hand held views, and lots of cameras, gear, and camera men being caught in shots.

Terrible! This could have been so much better. What a contrived piece of garbage by a dude I don't even remember that includes several people I don't even consider to be part of the "Brat Pack" and, BTW, get over yourselves. Dude clearly needed money.

I think some people were expecting a conventional retrospective documentary and not a personal video diary. I knew what it was before watching it, so I wasn't disappointed. I liked it even though I get the "get over it already, dude" criticism.
