Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World

For years, a great war has raged on between the scientifically advanced Empire and a paradise of witches known as the Nebulis Sovereignty. This age-old battle sets the scene for a fateful encounter between two young combatants: an imperial swordsman, Iska, and the witch princess, Aliceliese. As sworn enemies, they vow to cut each other down in order to unite their worlds, and yet Iska finds himself entranced by her beauty and righteousness, while Aliceliese is moved by his strength and resolve. In the midst of a never-ending war that forbids them from being together, they have no choice but to destroy each other-or find another way.

Good concept but awful plot. Too much repetitive!

I had high hopes for the blend of fantasy, war, and a Romeo-and-Juliet-style romance. Visually, the series starts off appealing, especially during battle scenes, and the chemistry between Iska and Aliceliese is quite likeable. But after a solid start, the momentum noticeably drops. Much of the story plays out exactly as expected, with twists that feel far too safe and predictable.

While the first season still manages to entertain to some degree, the second one clearly suffers from technical issues. The broadcast was delayed for several weeks, already hinting at problems behind the scenes—and it shows. Some scenes still look good, but many feel rough, cheaply produced, or outright unfinished. The overall quality fluctuates wildly, breaking immersion again and again.

Narratively, it’s no better. The characters barely develop, and their actions remain painfully predictable. By the end of the second season, the charm that once carried the main duo is all but gone. There's a lack of emotional depth and no real narrative growth—just the same patterns, recycled dialogue, and unchanging conflict dynamics.

All in all, Our Last Crusade ends up as a series full of missed potential. What began as a promising fantasy-romance loses its appeal over time—visually and narratively. Despite a few successful moments here and there, it ultimately lands in a very average place.
