Fallout

The story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.

Hopefully it won't randomly crash to the TV's home screen while watching.

This is, hands down, the most immersive adaptation of a video game I've ever watched.

I'd go so far as to say Fallout is in a league of its own. Because, unlike most other adaptations, it's an engrossing original story that _expands_ the franchise's universe and fleshes out much of its lore.

The attention to details of the show is phenomenal. Fallout fans will instantly recognize faithful recreations of in-game elements, such as
the Junk Jet, Pip-Boys, power armors and their UIs, Dogmeat's sound effects, just to name a few.
What an incredible fan service! Congratulations, Mr. Howard. This time, it really does "just work".

On the flipside, viewers who are not into the games may not appreciate the gore and dark humor that's quintessentially Fallout.

My Season 2 wishlist/predictions:
Assaultrons, deathclaws, energy weapons, and a UFO crashing 😉
Back when series was announced I imagined how it would look like, and this is exactly that!
This is the best adaptation of a video game. If you compare to the next biggest one - Last Of Us, that one was about following game’s story and focusing on characters and adding lot more drama.
With Fallout it actually replays some game moments and certain inside jokes without looking like a game at all.

Great that it’s not made “safe for all audiences”. This is bold, making story about severed head, cutting fingers on-screen! Main character has no nose. All the rivers of blood and guts! And notice how while we see all that gore, but when the dog is getting shot the camera cuts away :)

There’s too much story to tell and it shows. Most of the time it feels like we are being shown only half, if not less than half of the story. It could have been made much longer without losing anything. And many great actors like Michael Rapoport and Matt Berry only have one scene. They easily could have their own episodes.

Flashbacks are so amazing, just unbelievable and exceeds all expectations.

Fallout (2024) is an incredible tribute to one of the most iconic video game franchises ever made. As a long-time fan of the games, I was both excited and a little skeptical when this series was announced—but what we got is a faithful, gritty, and surprisingly heartfelt adaptation that manages to stand on its own while embracing its source material fully.

Visually, the show leans more toward the aesthetic of Fallout 4, with polished power armor, recognizable weaponry, and the slick look of the modern Bethesda entries. But underneath that surface, the DNA of the classic is very much intact. From the brutal sense of humor to the clunky 1950s retro-futurism, it captures the bizarre, bleak charm of the Fallout universe. The irradiated wasteland, Vault-Tec propaganda, and faction politics are all realized with stunning care and authenticity.

What’s most impressive is how well the show balances fan service with originality. It doesn't just rehash storylines from the games—it builds its own compelling narrative, one that clearly respects the lore without being bound by it. You can feel the influence of the RPG worldbuilding, but the characters, stakes, and emotional weight are all fresh and engaging. Lucy’s journey out of the Vault, the mystery surrounding her father, and the various factions in play feel like they belong in the world of Fallout—and yet they don’t rely on prior knowledge to be effective.

The writing blends sarcasm, horror, and existential melancholy in true Fallout fashion. It’s bleak, yes—but also weirdly hopeful in a way that feels earned. The performances are strong, the pacing is tight, and the tone strikes that perfect balance between grim survival story and absurdist satire.

This isn’t just a great adaptation—it’s great television. Whether you're a fan of the games or coming in fresh, Fallout delivers. 10/10.

It felt fallout. I guess some people are complaining that it changes some cannon but I don't care. The look and feel plus the dark twists were classic fallout bs. They did a pretty good job.

This television series is a strong one, serving as a reminder that the distinctions between "good" and "evil" are not as clear-cut as we often believe. The show's foreshadowing is also notable, subtly connecting past actions to present and future consequences in a way that is thought-provoking.

One aspect that stood out to me was the intricate power dynamics among characters, as they each strive to protect their own interests, leading to conflict and war. Through the character of Lucy, viewers are able to explore the moral implications of her choices, offering a fascinating look at how external circumstances can influence our decision-making and priorities.

Overall, this series is worth watching.
