Love Revolution

Gong Ju Young is a 17-year-old high school student who thinks he has found love at school when he falls in for Wang Ja Rim at first sight. But winning her heart won’t be easy. Wang Ja Rim has earned a reputation for being cold and aloof – and, at first, seems totally unimpressed by Gong Ju Young’s garish displays of affection. But Gong Ju Young won’t be deterred so easily. Persistence is the key, he thinks – and, over time, Wang Ja Rim starts to open up to her classmate. Gong Ju Young’s best buddy since elementary school is Lee Kyung Woo. Will he prove to be a help to Gong Ju Young in his quest for Wang Ja Rim’s heart – or a hindrance?
I never have very high expectations for Idols in dramas, but I gotta say Ji Hoon was absolutely fantastic as Joo Yeong. His emoting was on point, and he was natural and believable both as the bubbly, over-the-top, love sick fool and the more subdued, vulnerable boy during the slightly more serious and emotional scenes.
For such a young cast, the rest of them were very good too, and the friendship chemistry was there between them. Especially the girls. I liked the dynamic between Ja Rim, Ah Ram and Min Ji. They were all quite different girls, but their seemed comfortable around each other and their friendship seemed genuine.
Another aspect that I felt was done well was the relationship development between our prince and princess. Honestly, during the first couple of episodes, Joo Yeong was *way* too intense and annoying af and I totally got why Ja Rim found him wildly off-putting and kept snapping and being cold towards him. But it was very nice to see how their relationship slowly warmed up. How once she realized he was genuine in his interest towards her and just naturally exuberant because his feelings for her were just too big for his body, she began developing feelings too. They grew together and got closer the more they got to know each other, and eventually found a dynamic that worked for them.
All in all, a very cute, super sweet drama that I'm hoping will get a second season to tackle the plot lines that were left unfinished.
