Thank you team Doom At Your Service for a very romantic and very memorable story. You will all be missed.
To Ms. Park Bo Young, once again, what a superb performance! See you in your next TV drama (or movie)!
I wasn't sure about this show, it didn't really call my attention but my friend insisted on watching it.... omg I've never cried so much with a show I connected so much with them. Love it
This show will break your heart, but it's ok becase it'll help piece it together afterwards. And there's no sweetest happiness that the one that comes after heartache. The laughs and the tears, this show has them both.
The drama was phenomenal. From the writing, to the acting, cast and OST. It was great all around. It lightly touched upon on the philosophy of life and death, how lightness and darkness are both sides of the same coin and you can't have one without the other. The garden metaphor and the deity living as a forever terminally ill patient was an interesting take on the more religious aspect of the story too.
And don't even get me started on the main couple. Their chemistry just jumped out of the screen. It was impossible not to root for them. I sincerely hope they'll work together again someday.
I don't know yet what drama I'll be watching next, but I feel bad for it given the large shoes it'll have to fill.
> Looses the charm at the end but otherwise an pleasant watch
Doom at Your Service starts with In-guk as Myul Mang ; like his other badass characters like in The Smile Left Your Eyes ; and his journey in falling love with Dong Kyung ; who is the only person loves/wishes Doom ; and becoming
Kim Sa-Ram
.
The story and script is many times confusing when you try to follow the promise and terms b/w Doom and Kyung and more confusing with interference Nyeoshin. At sometime I gave up on embracing the story and just watched it for the two main leads
Another drawback of the show is the pitiful second-love-triangle ; two people who run-away from problems and emotions fall in love with the same girl (first love) and the girl has to choose between
first love and first kiss
. At times this felt very boring and uninteresting and I had to skip whenever i see Tae-Oh ; I never liked any of his characters .
In the end baffled by the K-Drama GODs
bring in the miracle both cancer is cured and Doom becomes Sa-ram
Watch it only for Seo In-guk badass acting and Park Bo-young cuteness along with some very very good music.
Rated this one 10/10 initially, as I was hooked from the very start, and don't I love me some Seo In-guk? I sure do! Having Lee Soo-hyuk and Shin Do-hyun as part of the cast is a huge plus- loved their characters, and to be perfectly honest, I'd love seeing Soo-hyuk's beautiful face even if he were playing a statue. I did not exactly like Kang Tae-oh's character, but I enjoyed his acting, and will surely watch his future dramas too.
Can't really say why my rating changed to 8/10 by the end of the show: perhaps I took a bit too long of a break before watching the last two episodes, but some of the charm was lost for me near the end. Comparing Doom to some other shows I've seen in the meantime could have something to do with it too. Overall, this was a fun watch, though I could have done without some repetitious and unnecessary scenes.
6 stars but up 1 star for Dawon (the episode lights up every time he's on screen). great supporting cast & side story. not sure about the main storyline.
This review could be laden with my theories as I try to figure out the theology of this series. It was so fractured that I couldn’t piece together the internal logic of how the spiritual world and the human world interacted. I think about life theologically, so my discomfort with this might not affect most people’s enjoyment of this series, but, for me, the disconnect foiled both the mystery and the plot. The last few episodes pulled together a few clues (more like breadcrumbs) about the supernatural forces behind the story, but it was too little, too late. If there has been clearer world building, I would have given the series a higher rating. The acting is very good. There are some gorgeous location shots. The casting was solid. I give this series a high 7 (good) out of 10.
I thought it'd be a lot more cliche and boring than it was based on the comments and teasers, but instead, I found it thoughtful and interesting. I'm not quite sure about the plot or premise, but the actors did an amazing job and their expressions were on point, so I enjoyed the show overall.
