Cougar Town

Jules Cobb is a mom in her forties facing the often humorous challenges, pitfalls and rewards of life's next chapter. Along for the journey is her son, her ex-husband, her husband/neighbor and her friends who together make up her dysfunctional, but supportive and caring extended family... even if they have a funny way of showing it sometimes.

It's a comedy that doesn't take itself seriously and it feels more like a peek in the real life of a group of friends than a setup with cameras and actors. Lots of chemistry, lots of awkward fun, PENNY CAAAAAAN! Basically, remove all your expectations from regular "comedies" and enjoy the breath of fresh air given by Cougar Town. Oh, and watch out for the Title Slides :)

Awesome show, that always makes me happy. It's light, uplifting and a bit random - all great things!

Because it's so similar, Cougar Town filled the Scrubs-shaped hole in my heart a few years back. I just finished my first rewatch and it's still funny as hell, although season 1 is a bit weird. They clearly had a different idea in mind when they started the show. That's very noticeable, but from season 2 and onward they took the Scrubs-like route, which is amazing. The long time running gags make it stand out, just like HIMYM and (there it is again) Scrubs. This show is very underrated!

This show is entertaining because you get to see Courtney Cox ruin her face through liberal amounts of plastic surgery.

I will never understand why this for the most part unfunny show gets season after season after season while hilarious sitcoms like Go On get cancelled despite good critics. Sure, the (US) viewer amount is high enough for CT but I assume that's just because of the well-known cast not because this is so good.
For seasons I just watch it because I grew fond of the cast which works well together and seeing a Friends member on screen is at least something even though Monika was my 2nd least favourite character. I am not even laughing for ages except for the episode where Matthew Perry had a guest appearance.

You get the same eye-rolling cheesy plot in almost every episode and it's always these grown-ups behaving like really dumb children until the resolve the last ~5mins where they are suddenly precocious again.

Matthew Perry should try his next project on the same network, he'd outrun Cox with ease. His sitcoms - despite apparent flaws here and there (just like CT) - are actually funny. But I am biased anyway towards my most facourite Friends character and idol Perry.

I really loved this at first. Yes, it was always very corny, but in an endearing way. But by season 2, I really couldn't stand any of the characters. They became so terrible and unbearably annoying. The writing was just so... bad. May continue watching this one day to see if the charm the first half of season one had would come back, but as it is I really can't stand this show.
