Well I had discarded this show completely. But then I read it had Jason Bateman and Kelly Couco has producers and gave it a try.
What a catch, loving the story and idea, solid acting. It's better than I could expect.
Very fun series, with great acting and twists and turns that keep it always fresh. Highly recommended!
Started really good, could deliver more, cuoco was not annoying, great couple and chemistry with the killer.
The overuse of fantasy/dream sequense was very bad.
The ending was rushed and sudden.
Kaley Cuoco and murder mysteries make a delightful combo.
The cliffhangers are predictable and the editing is quite "already seen", but the premise is very good and the mood can be very exciting at times. I don't regret watching it, and it's fun, but it's not great. Could have been! Too bad. It's "okay" trending towards "meh". I don't excluse a 6/10 if this keeps the same.
Based on a True Story (2023) - ❤x7
This was a kind of crazy, fun, chaotic show.
Season 2 gave us even more chaos.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
After a very average first episode, the dynamics between the characters and the perfect comedy-thriller balance make the show take off into a level of originality way higher than expected.
On paper it might look too close to Only Murders for comfort, but goes its very own route as the episodes progress.
Whenever something shocking happened, I was expecting it to be a dream or hallucination. That trope is awful and there were 4 of them in the same episode!! Then they did few per episode. It's even worse because people do get killed in this show and now you just need to question each one because the writers wanted to add a shock moment or a sex scene.
Otherwise the series was fun but it also ended on a cliffhanger. I want to love to show, there was potential but it got ruined in many places.
Some story lines got nowhere.
The casting was great. Kaley is finally no Penny anymore. Nathan Bartlett and her got great chemistry. Matt Pierce is god tier acting. I'm gonna watch more of his stuff.
A dark comedy that parodies the true crime universe to create a somewhat absurd story about a married couple involved in the production of a podcast starring a serial killer. There is an interesting starting point, but in the end the comedy is too simple and relies too often on situations that seek to deceive the viewer, something like telling the same joke continuously. Kaley Cuoco is as histrionic as she usually is while Chris Messina and Tom Bateman are much funnier counterpoints, despite the little development of their characters.
This is one for those series that you watch it in your collection just to have something on in the background. Not worth watching. If you have watched Cuoco is anything else, you don't need to watch this; the supporting cast have more in them than the main cast can come up with. I really don't understand why there is a 2nd season. Promising series, just like The Flight Attendant but episodes wasted on dream sequences and to her nonsense just to fill the time.
