I'm coming to this new, not knowing the webcomic, and I love it!

Love the 'tiny snacks' and 'mild poison' lol.

Of course almost no transition pleases dedicated fans, the standout that breaks the rule is The Shawshank Redemption. Though I think Stephen King's original was more of a short story at 70pages from memory!

Ooops my ADHD brain gone sideways there.

Maybe I need to seek out the webcomic!

A good animated series with various lighthearted stories that provide moments of reflection. Some characters are intensely captivating. I found the creative names they give to things in the series very interesting, which makes us question many aspects of our daily lives.

I was really looking forward to this but as others have said...the spirit of the web comic did not come through in the show. Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable but oddly generic, with such clever new scenarios as "Millennial afraid to ask someone out!" and "Child does things to exasperate parents" and the always new and exciting "I got a promotion and now everyone hates me".

Overall, cute but lacking what made the web comic so good.

My biggest gripe with this show is the dialogue sounds nothing like what I think many people hear in their head as they're reading the comics. There's the basic, don't pair what you read with what you watch thing, but the comic is the sum of very few parts. You might reimagine Marvel in a dozen ways, but if you kick out one or two of the 3 pillars of what constitutes the comic identity, you just have its skin. The voices are human and dialogue...human. They don't have the Strange Planet or "being" identity. It's obviously not plot driven, so what exactly are we trying to do here? The joke is the ironic observation and alien turns of phrase. Where is that beyond some sprinkled here and there?

I wrote about this show for the Ignyte-winning, Hugo-winning blog Nerds of a Feather:

The show misses the enjoyment of the comics. The comic was quick-witted and made you stop and think about it. The show however is long drawn-out awkward phrasing that you want to hurry up get get to the point.

First episode is 20 minutes about "comfort squares" (pillows) and avoiding using the word "airplane".

I wanted to like this so much - been waiting months for it. Love the comic. Unfortunately it only looks like the comic. It just doesn't feel like it at all, and I think that's just lame. I didn't expect some perfect adaptation, but this is basically any other animated show minus the humor, and everyone is too human. Making the female aliens have eye-shadow, the amount of clothes they wear, the way that they talk - trying too hard one minute to do simple "alien type speak" about pillows in the most obnoxious manner .... And forgetting the next moment - the comic does it so well, and it could have been done in the show, but i dont think they got the right people to work on it - and then they say stupid things like "everything happens for a reason" in the show.... yikes, what's with the wishy-washy crap.... It's really difficult to sit through. I'm sorry. Not trying to be crappy.

A couple cool things are the animation, and the voice actors they got and idk... That's all I can think of rn. Hope that people continue to enjoy the showv regardless!

I have to agree with the other comic fans. Seems a common theme that newcomers enjoy the thing while fans dislike it. I feel like there's a deeper meaning to this trend.

Too much unnecessary hate over here from comic "fans". You really don't know what an adaptation is, so keep your hate away and make an opinion based on the show... Anyways, so much love and fun with this show, I really enjoyed it!
