You know whats terrifying about this series? The mothers mind obviously cracked but she acts normal and thinks she has done NOTHING WRONG. The grandmother was a fool as well. Really terrifying doco worth a watch in my eyes.

Shocking, Unsettling and Heartbreaking

Sky Borgman's latest crime docuseries Sins of our Mother is yet another scintillating story of real life incidents which are unsettling and startling. A mother, a wife and also a daughter is involved in a series of murders which ruptures the peace in her big family. With a good mixture of archival footage, old images and interesting revelations, Sins of our Mother may not reach the levels of Sky's previous work Girl in the Picture, but definitely serves as a tear-jerking story which needs a telling. The haunting and blinded faith on the Jesus, the whitewashing of brains and a sinful man proclaiming himself the jesus of new Jerusalem forms the crux of the intense and highly dramatic turn of events which are still active in US Trials. A fascinating character study which deserves your time.

I wonder what is the difference between a madman who believes in the imminent coming of the messiah and a madman who believes that the messiah, the son of God, walked the earth :)

Religions are kind of crazy. But I can't understand that even the doctors didn't notice that this woman is dangerous and mentally ill.

Police should have arrested this woman the moment her 4th husband was murdered and moved out with the children. Her 4th husband called the police and warned them that she was not well and could harm the children.
For another they were both (Chad and Lorine) primitive and Chad totally, they couldn't even properly hide the victims (buried in shallow graves on their own property WTF ??).
How was she able to get her brother Alex who I assume was sane to kill her husband and son?

And grandmother ? What are you doing ? protecting her daughter when it must have been clear to her that something was definitely wrong with her.

And hence I am shocked at the attitude of the police who did not act more vigorously in looking for their children when the series of deaths occurred and only found them after 10 months

Horrible and unbelievable, I wonder how the trial will turn out in 2023. I'm waiting for the second series.

This woman got away with so much in her life, just because of her looks, in my opinion. I don't think this is a spoiler, but if it is, no problem!

The son is weirdly apathetic during this whole documentary. Calling his sister and brother “siblings” on the jail call. Trying to act emotional in that dumb beach scene. Hope he didn’t inherit his mom’s crazy genes with all his jesus talk.

The inaction of the police when it mattered most and the complete naiveté of Lori's entire family and friends are truly shocking and, IMO, enabled her a lot more than she should've been. Don't even get me started on Chad. If people around him weren't so blinded by religion, they would've seen the red flags. The whole thing is sad, their victims deserved a lot better.

Somewhat incomplete in its chronicle of the events (as a lot has happened since this was released), but a decent enough primer on the case for anyone looking to be caught up to speed leading up to Daybell's ensuing trial.
