Terrific show, Great performances, especially Travis Fimmel, great cinematography, great angles and tension building with a few instruments (not overloaded) Hope we get a season 2. Cheers mate and happy new year 2023 !

Not in my wheelhouse but found it just odd enough to enjoy. Big fan of Fimmel and the abrupt sound score kept me interested. Not all the characters worked but the story flowed pretty good.

Travis Fimmel plays the “brilliant but also slightly unhinged” type main character roles very well. This show is no exception. I also love Australian made detective shows. They are very different in style to the American shows. The closest American show I can compare this to is True Detective, IMHO. Event then, there’s no over the top drama here. Just great writing and acting.

I just wanted to check out the pilot episode today, just to see if I liked it. Here I am, hours later, almost at the end of a very interesting Season 1. Where did my evening go? 😳

PS: I loved how they tied everything together in Season 1. Such a satisfying ending to the murder mystery.

In short, for the TL;DR crowd, this is True Detective Down under.

I wanted to check this show out because of Fimmel and he again delivered with the acting. I was hoping he didn't run into snakes in this show.

It took me 4 days to watch 6 episodes and that is a sign. Not that it's bad, but it's more like a wedding cake; Delicious but after 1, max 2 pieces your body needs time to digest.

It is slow with a mediocre start and great middle part, but a rather disappointing ending. They set up a long story along the way, so I'll check out the next season, but the payoff was a little meh. I don't mind it being a slow burner but when you introduce new facts in the 5th episode, have story lines end up in complete duds and have to rely on a few coincidences you lose marks in my book.

if 0 is a stupid American cop show, where you can guess who did it by betting on the 1 guest actor who can actually act
and
10 is a British mini series where you have to go read 2 Wikipedia entries and watch a 20 min YouTube video to figure out who did it, AFTER the actor explained it on the show.
Then this is a 6.

This is more for people who like Drama about sensitive subjects than for amateur sleuths. I gave it a 6 BUT with potential.

Just started watching this. I’m pretty sure that judging from the first scene with the girl riding a beach cruiser in her nightgown this is going to be stupid and bad. The second scene with our hero begging someone to beat him is ridiculous. Cinematography is poor. The two tracks they’ve played so far have been terrible. Another stupid scene with lady standing in front of corn field with the sound of train going by… then stupid mom daughter prayer scene. Whoever filmed this needs to go back to film school most of the shots are backlit and you can barely see the actors faces. Some of the audio is so bad it seems like it’s dubbed. More cheesy bad (aboriginal?) music. Twenty minutes in and I think I’ll leave it on. I was looking for something to play in the background and this fits the bill. So I finished it. Not a very interesting mystery. It was watchable but if you have better things to do you can easily skip it, I hope this is not the best sample of aboriginal music because it was all really awful.

The only good thing about this show is Fimmel if you are a fan of his then do watch… but don’t expect to be gripped

[Filmin] Introduces an investigation resumed thirty years later based on new investigations, with a conventional structure of parallel plots in the present and the past. In reality, it never completely avoids the traditional path (family traumas for the police agent, racism against indigenous Australians, false culprits...) which progressively leads to an absolute lack of interest. Characterless performances and flat technical aspects don't help, even though he tries to make social comments that are so obvious as to be harmless.

I couldn't get through the first episode, it's boring, yet painfully transparent, the dialog is so bad that it's laughable, at this point I just don't know why Fimmel takes these shi*ty roles, he has insane potential and they put him in this boring sh*t and he actually accepts. Sorry but I can't even give it a rating, don't wanna paint people's future black by giving it a 1/10.
