I was initially skeptical after reading mixed opinions about this anime adaptation, particularly criticisms about it being unnecessarily toned down compared to its manga source material. However, as someone who hadn’t read the manga beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised.
If it weren’t for the second half of the season, I likely wouldn’t have rated it higher than a 7. However, the show noticeably ramps up in quality, pacing, and story development as it progresses—especially towards the end. The ending was satisfying enough to leave me eager for the already-announced second season.
I’ve read that the story and character development improve even further beyond the first season, which makes the prospect of season two even more exciting. Overall, this was an enjoyable binge-watch that I’d highly recommend, especially to fans of My Dress-Up Darling or anyone looking for a lighthearted and engaging anime with a focus on cosplay and relationships.
good anime about cosplay and the characters have good representations of cosplay I just hope the future seasons won't turn it into a harem type romance.
Loved how the characters deliver the passion of a niche theme. Cleverly brought up conflicts through simple and complicated relationships. Happy to know that they're on for the 2nd season!
