THE DAYS

Blamed by some, hailed as heroes by others, those involved with Fukushima Daiichi face a deadly, invisible threat — an unprecedented nuclear disaster.

This is definitely slow, and sadly not as good as Chernobyl (2019).
However, it is very interesting from a historical perspective. One thing I noticed (and imo it's hard to miss), the Japanese basically kept getting in their own way, by never wanting to deliver bad news, or contradicting elders and superiors etc. Without those stumbling blocks some decisions assuredly could have been made quicker and better.
And finally, hats off to the heroes both inside and outside of the Nuclear Plant. Those kind of sacrifices make one believe in humanity again.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
It could be a short series but damn that was slow but i was intrigued on the science behind it and the rescue work. This paved way for nuclear power proliferation and current crisis of Germany (and europe) due to Ukraine war as they are heavily relied on Russian gas & fuel. There is no greater advertisement than this to show the cascading affects of Mothers natures fury and human incompetence bundled with political wok-ism.
I'm enjoying this but it's just so darn slow. The length of time it takes people to respond is infuriating and there's too many drawn out shots for no reason. It's just too slow. These 8 episodes could easily have been done in 4.
Great and enjoyable show. To the people complaint it's slow, it isn't. That's just a realistic portrayal of how the situation went down.
At first I was intrigued with the main event and what I knew about it before.
Unfortunately, there was literally little drama in here.
It has so slow pace, and it could be really easily reduced the episode to 3 instead of 8. They really can't stretch the suspense moment or the drama.
I need extra energy to finish all the episodes and even put 1.25x speed when I watch this series.
A restrained show, with a final part that highlights the heroism of the group of workers who remained at the nuclear plant, and a first part that shows the loss of energy with scenes that have a horror movie pulse (not surprisingly, one of the directors of the series is Hideo Nakata). But the effort to transfer the facts as faithfully as possible causes a slowdown in the pace. The story works better in short distances, due to the contained performance of the actor Kôji Yakusho as Masao Yoshida, the manager of the nuclear power plant, one of the testimonials on which the series is based.
Nowhere near as good as Chernobyl. As others rightfully pointed out: it's too goddamn slow! Need- and endless slow motion, I also didn't really like the acting, it lacks atmosphere and seems like they wanted to portray a hero too many. From a historical perspective, an enjoyable watch, but this could have been so much better.
Very good series highlighting the difficulty experienced by those directly involved in an unprecedented emergency.
Couple of very Japanese style spinning scenes though.
Remember this is a Japanese made series with Japanese actors. The Japanese production crew has clearly been very mindful and deliberate in their approach to highlight the extent of the situation with those involved, hence the so called slow pacing. It's well worth hanging around patiently till the final episode, it all builds up to then.
Fantastic series, tense at times and very well done.
First rate watching much as Chernobyl. Much braveness and fortitude shown.
