Having adored the film, with my only complaint being it's runtime, its ensemble is fantastic and was able to fill out so many characters in sequence in a depthy and seamless fashion. This show comes full force and equally breakneck in pace to deliver on that ensemble, as well as its new additions. I'd argue the only thing keeping this from a 10 is the curse of its length. The character-by-character approach to serial format is one of my favourite aspects of any show, but should the show not continue into higher episodes and remain a mini-series, it will lose its potential. Characters are key and many still need their flowers. Its also a complete technical masterpiece. 9/10

One of the best things on TV this year. Same cast and director as the film, and just as class. Right from the first episode it forces you to put down your phone and really watch. An astounding central performance from Stephen Graham, because he’s incapable of doing otherwise. Particularly enjoy watching for those little moments that may turn bad, a pan being on too long etc. It is different to The Bear: uses interpersonal-comment-as-you-pass-with-a-hot-plate humour rather than, for instance, having to wrestle a big inflatable hot dog into a small car. Was initially worried it had too much dazzle and not enough life but once it drops the “we’ve only got one camera” shtick it quickly finds rhythm - by the end of Ep 2 I was so invested I (a very miserable and hard-to-move person) almost cried at one of the story twists. Nailbiting stuff. You really can’t look away

Expanding on the style proposed in the film, the spinoff sequel modifies the narrative to further develop the characters, allowing it to address topics such as abuse, harassment or mental health through of a somewhat pessimistic portrait of an environment of constant tension. In the way in which the creators of the series introduce problems that distance from the usual stereotypical representations, it's much more relevant in the representation of the world that it aims to reflect. And it not only proves to be an interesting continuation of a good film but effectively builds its own path.

Ahhhh, such a smart idea. Instead of just talking about real-world problems, they turned it into entertainment by having a tense and stressful work environment. Almost like a family rather than a stranger, and that's why it's genuis.

Apart from the little hints of wokeness, it’s a good solid tv show.

Not nearly as intense or interesting as the movie. I don't think it's bad, but nothing is particularly great either. I was originally going to give a 6/10 but after more thought it just felt like a nothing show to me
