Is this a reboot or do I need to watch the original show?

I hope that this time they will have the decency to finish their anime..

Firstly, it's not a pure remake. There's one less bonus episode (Light Novel n°7), and instead of adapting the fifth book, they decided to adapt the fourth (the one that had been skipped). As I recall, they had adapted book five differently, so if we ever get a season two for this “remake”, there's a chance they'll adapt this arc like the book.

If you don't want to watch everything, but only what's new, watch from episode 20.
