Am I the only one who thinks comedy/sitcoms were better in general when they didn´t grew on trees?

Up to today "The Nanny" still is one of my all time favs. Although you knew from the start of the show were it would lead, and although they were using about every possible cliché, the characters grew on me and I not only watched for the good comedy it was but to see how the story and the characters evolved.

Today, whenever I happen to find an episode running, and it is still running somewhere, I can´t resist to watch.

Although it’s full of problems (repetitive in general, the whole marriage obsession message this show pushes constantly in all ways possible, the lying about her age thing, lots of other stupid sexist stuff like that) if you can ignore that or take it for what it is, the show has a lot of good things that kept me coming back.
- love the 90s style. Of course I’ve heard of the nanny, but it was a bit before my time so I never saw it on tv. I have since heard of it for Fran being somewhat of a fashion icon on the internet. It’s interesting that her style is so loud and wild but is like all designer. The stylist for this show was good. Maxwell had amazing style. And the other people are just so 90s in the best way.
- Fran and Maxwell have good chemistry, which to me means a lot for a show because so many actors do not and it just totally ruins a story for me. It’s interesting that the played her ex in another Fran show she did after the nanny. It would be hard to keep up that chemistry for as long as the show goes, but the overall gist is there in my opinion.
- sometimes the plot gets tiresome, and they throw in a lot of random antics to keep it up for so long, but overall I thought he way they carried the story for so long was impressive actually. I mean again lots of problems, but usually a love/lust plot line fizzles out way before they did
- its actually laugh out loud funny sometimes. Which surprises me because it’s overall not my sense of humor or type of show
Overall it’s honestly kind of a dumb show, goofy AF, and sometimes even slapstick, and of course outdated, but I have to say I overall liked it a lot for the reasons above.

I have watched this show and is now ticked off my list, but in todays light I don’t think it holds up. All the fat jokes of the mother, the constant calling the “best friend” dumb/stupid, and to me worst of all is that Frans life revolves fully around a man, getting married etc. She never can understand Maxwells point of view and his stand and just constantly works him down.

I will not rewatch this series and I do not understand why people love this series.

I watched season 1 with my sister and laughed quite often, but I don't see myself watching six seasons of it.
