Family Matters

A long-running dramedy centering on the Winslow family, a middle-class African American family living in Chicago, and their pesky next-door neighbor, ultra-nerd Steve Urkel. A spin-off of Perfect Strangers.

Family Matters is a pretty enjoyable and entertaining sitcom about the Winslow family and their remarkable neighbor – the unforgettable Steve Urkel. Jaleel White delivers an impressive performance as Urkel, a character who, with his suspenders, squeaky voice, and the iconic line “Did I do that?”, quickly became the show’s breakout star.
Over time, the series gradually shifted from being a family-centered show to essentially becoming a one-man show. Urkel’s presence became so dominant that even his co-stars later admitted how much of the spotlight he took.
Still, Family Matters retains its charm and heart across nine seasons from 1989 to 1998. It manages to combine family warmth with wacky antics and rightfully became one of the standout sitcoms of the ’90s.
I definitely recommend it

This show is still funny. I’m rewatching it after not seeing it for about 20 years and I still find it funny. Urkel is the star of the series, but Carl Winslow is a great character as well.
